Březsko combines hilly terrain with several specifically named hiking routes and a history dating back to the Middle Ages. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between routes through the village and those in the wider Kladecko area: a red-marked route passes through Březsko, while the Napoleonská route leaves the village here and continues around it. A chapel, crosses, a memorial and a recurring church festival add cultural themes to the hiking routes.

Landscape and Nature Park

The entire cadastral area of Březsko lies in undulating, hilly terrain. In the southern part, the valley of the Březský potok divides the landscape; the valley lies on the border with Konice near Sedliska. Kladecko Nature Park covers part of the municipality and was established in 1990 to protect the character of the landscape and its significant aesthetic and biological values. The scale matters when describing the landscape: the hilly terrain extends across the entire cadastral area, whereas only part of the municipality lies within the nature park.

Hiking Routes and Educational Trails

A red-marked hiking route runs from Konice through Březsko, Vojtěchov and Javoříko to Litovel. The Napoleonská route is suitable for hiking and cross-country skiing. Near Březsko, you need to leave the marked route and go around the village before continuing along the Napoleonská route. The two routes therefore differ: the red-marked route passes through Březsko, while the Napoleonská route continues around the village. Check the current trail signs and conditions before setting out.

Beyond Březsko, an educational trail runs along the edge of Kladecko Nature Park. The Kladecko educational trail in the wider region is 7.2 km long, rated as moderately difficult, and suitable for hiking and mountain biking.

Chapel, Memorials and Local History

Březsko has a chapel dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius, dating from 1875. A marble cross from 1876 stands right beside it. Another memorial commemorates those who fell in the First World War and includes a statue of Saint Wenceslas dating from 1929. The history of Březsko goes back to the mid-14th century. Local memorials from the late 19th and early 20th centuries thus sit alongside a village history that reaches much further back.

The economic history of the surrounding area adds another dimension. Iron ore was mined near Březsko in the 18th and 19th centuries and then processed in nearby Blansko. Mining and processing were two stages of this history, associated with different places. A group of six marble crosses, restored in 1900, is also located near Březsko.

Church Festival and Trip Planning

A church festival with music and a raffle is regularly held in Březsko for the feast of Saint Martin. If you would like to plan your stay around the celebration, check the exact dates before your trip.
