Šubířov was founded on cleared land in a mountainous, forested part of the estate. When deciding what to do, consider which of these highlights best suits your stay: a tour along an 8 km educational trail, nature areas, or an event connected with the local church festival.

Nature in Kladecko

Kladecko Nature Park has dense forests, with tree species composition that is relatively close to its natural state in some places. The streams Nectava, Romže and Věžnice flow through the park. In the Kladecko area, the U nádrže natural monument includes wetlands with rich flowering flora that provide a habitat for amphibians. The nearby “private reserve” Bělá, close to Šubířov, is also a complex of wet and dry meadows with remarkable plant diversity and rare animals. The nature destinations therefore differ considerably: forest and rivers shape the landscape in the nature park, while U nádrže and Bělá have their own wetland and meadow features. Wildlife visibility varies seasonally; if wildlife watching is a focus of your trip, take this into account when planning.

Educational trail and tour planning

The Kladecko educational trail starts at Šubířov railway stop and ends in the municipality of Jesenec. At 8 km long, with 12 stops, the route has a clearly defined scope; you can travel it on foot or by bicycle. A considerable part of the educational trail follows the historic “Napoleonská cesta” route, so the tour has a historical dimension as well as offering scenic landscapes. The start and finish are in different places, so if you choose this route, plan for the endpoint in Jesenec. From Šubířov railway stop, the nearby “private reserve” Bělá can be reached via a yellow-marked hiking trail and the Kladecko educational trail. Trail conditions can change; conditions on the educational trail also vary seasonally. Check the current situation before setting out.

Church and monuments

The Church of Panny Marie Sedmibolestné in Šubířov is a Baroque village church dating from 1714 and was added to the state register of cultural monuments in 1973. A pilgrimage takes place in the church every year on 15 September, the feast of Panny Marie Sedmibolestné. If you would like to plan your trip around this date, check the current programme in advance. In the nearby settlement of Chobyně, about 2 km north of Šubířov, a wooden bell tower dating from 1931 is the most significant local monument.
