Vysoká lies in the Zlatohorská vrchovina geomorphological unit. This allows you to focus your stay on the things that interest you most.

Landscape and orientation

The highest point in the municipality is the 494 m hill Stráž, above Pitárné. East of Vysoká are erratic boulders considered a natural attraction. In Pitárné, the Petrovický potok and the Mušlov streams converge; from their confluence onward, the river is called the Osoblaha. The change in the river’s name is tied to this point: the Petrovický potok and Mušlov meet there, and after that the river is called the Osoblaha.

Churches and historical landmarks

The remains of a 15th-century fortress are located in the western part of Vysoká. The single-nave Baroque cemetery church of St. Urban in Vysoká was built in 1767. In Pitárné, the parish church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary dates from 1776. The two church dates are nine years apart. “Single-nave” describes a church interior with one main nave; “Baroque” identifies its art-historical style. St. Urban is thus notable for both its architectural form and its designation as a cemetery church, while the church in Pitárné is identified as a parish church.

In Bartultovice, the Radvanského kámen is a gravestone dating from 1760. There is also an 18th-century roadside shrine dedicated to St. Florian near house no. 43 in Bartultovice. Gravestones, roadside shrines and churches are distinct forms of historical remembrance. The dates 1760, 1767 and 1776 form a chronological sequence: the gravestone predates the construction of St. Urban by seven years, and the parish church in Pitárné dates from nine years later. Together with the fortress remains from the 15th century, these sites represent different historical periods.

Hiking trails starting from Pitárné

The blue hiking trail passes the observation towers on the Strážnice and Hraniční vrch hills on its way to Město Albrechtice. The green hiking trail runs from Pitárné around Dívčí Hrad to Bohušov. The routes differ in their stated points of reference: the blue trail passes two observation towers, while Dívčí Hrad and Bohušov are landmarks on the green trail. In addition, hiking trails from Pitárné run through the Osoblažský výběžek. When choosing between the two marked trails, you can use the places mentioned and each route’s course to help you decide. Before setting out, check that the trails are currently accessible and marked, as both can change.

When planning your stay, you can give different emphasis to these themes: the churches and historical landmarks offer points of reference for a cultural and historical focus, while the hiking trails provide named routes and destinations for planning walks. Consider whether you would like to devote your time mainly to historical sites, hiking trails or both. This will help you tailor your search for a hotel in Vysoká to the focus of your stay.
