Rynoltice: Hiking Trails and Rock Landscapes
Accommodation in Rynoltice
Marked hiking trails, geological features, and the history of the Church of St. Barbara offer different themes to explore during a stay in Rynoltice. Five marked hiking trails pass through the municipality. Bus and train connections with other towns and municipalities provide additional travel options. When planning your hike, use a named destination, a district, or a section where two routes run together as a point of reference.
Hiking Trails and Marked Routes
The green hiking trail 1 starts at Rynoltice railway station and runs together with cycle route 25 as far as JĂtrava. The blue hiking trail passes through the district of PolesĂ and by the Havran rock formation there. These routes offer different landmarks to help you choose a hike.
Another hike, “Po hĹ™betech slonĹŻ,” starts in Rynoltice on a road signposted CT 25; check the trail signs and access before setting out. From SlonĂ Kameny, a red-marked trail leads to JĂtrava, followed by a green-marked hiking trail back to Rynoltice.
Forests and Geological Features
The Velký Vápenný Nature Reserve protects native montane maple-beech forests as well as flower-rich beech forests on Devonian limestone. The area includes a former quarry and karst features such as underground chambers, swallow holes, and a spring. These features bring together forest habitats and a varied geological landscape.
BĂlĂ© Kameny is a protected natural monument within the LuĹľickĂ© hory Protected Landscape Area. Weathering has shaped the sandstone there into rounded, mushroom-shaped, and almost spherical forms. There are also several pseudokarst cavities and small caves, formed by weathering and the erosion of coarse-grained sandstone layers. The natural features of the two areas are distinct: VelkĂ˝ VápennĂ˝ is notable for its forests and karst features, while BĂlĂ© Kameny is known for its sandstone formations and cavities.
Church History and Getting There
The chapel built in Rynoltice in 1669 was converted into the Baroque Church of St. Barbara in 1745–1748. This sequence traces the building’s history from its original chapel to its later Baroque transformation, complementing the hiking and nature themes with a link to the town’s architectural history.
Rynoltice has bus and train connections with other towns and municipalities. Check the timetables for your specific travel dates before finalizing a connection. Cycling is also represented by various projects and routes: a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists was built toward the cemetery. The section in Rynoltice is also the first stage of a planned cycle route intended to connect the town with JablonnĂ© v PodještÄ›dĂ. The green hiking trail 1 also runs together with cycle route 25 as far as JĂtrava.
