Ohrazenice can be placed in context for travel planning through its specific local features: historic buildings, a cycling route that passes through the village, and a landscape of fields and forests each provide a different perspective. The Český ráj Protected Landscape Area also extends south of Ohrazenice. This gives you several themes to help shape your stay around your interests: local history, cycling and the regional landscape.

Local history: Pyrám and the chapel

Pyrám was built in 1813 at the intersection of three state roads and is now 8.44 m high. The intersection is part of its history, while the year of construction places its origins in time. Its present-day height adds a precise measurement to its historical significance. For travelers interested in local landmarks, Pyrám is a distinctive point of reference.

Another historic landmark is the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas in the village square, one of the municipality’s historic monuments. Its bell dates from 1760. Its building history also includes an earlier wooden chapel: it was demolished in 1815, and the chapel was rebuilt in 1820. The dates refer to different events: 1760 concerns the bell, 1815 the demolition of the predecessor building, and 1820 the rebuilding. The latter took place five years after the demolition. This helps distinguish the date of the bell from that of the later rebuilding.

Landscape and cycling route

The other parts of Ohrazenice are surrounded by fields and forests. The Český ráj Protected Landscape Area extends south of the village. This means the landscape of the other parts of the village and the protected area’s location to the south serve as distinct spatial reference points.

Cycling route No. 3049 runs through Ohrazenice from Dolánky, through the village, to Doubí near Turnov. This sequence describes the route and situates Ohrazenice as part of the connection: Dolánky and Doubí near Turnov are the named endpoints, with Ohrazenice lying between them along the route. If cycling is part of your reason for traveling, this connection provides a concrete reference for your plans.

Water tower: engineering and views

The Ohrazenice water tower holds 150 m³ of water. It also has an open viewing platform 17 m high, offering panoramic views. The two measurements describe different features: capacity refers to the volume of water it holds, while the height indicates the platform’s elevation. The tower thus combines a technical function with a viewing feature. However, the view should be distinguished from opportunities to visit: the tower is not normally open to the public. On several days each year, it can be visited accompanied by staff. Check current announcements if you plan to visit.
