Accommodation in Hrádek Nad Nisou
If you are looking for a hotel in Hrádek nad Nisou, you can plan your stay around the topics that interest you: churches and architectural history, the history of the Three-Country Point, or excursions into the surrounding landscape and nature. Specific landmarks include historic buildings and a museum, as well as named routes and bodies of water. This makes it easy to plan your trip according to whether you would prefer to focus on architecture, regional culture or outdoor activities.
Churches, wells and architectural history
The Catholic Church of sv. Bartoloměje is one of the most important Baroque buildings in the Three-Country Point. Its vaults were added from 1764 to 1766 and are completely covered with frescoes. The Protestant Chrám Pokoje, also known as the Peace Church, was built in the early 20th century in the Neo-Gothic style with Neo-Renaissance elements. In addition to its religious uses, the building is occasionally used as a gallery. The two churches thus represent different periods and styles of architecture; the Chrám Pokoje is also occasionally used as a gallery.
At Horní náměstí, you can look through glass panels into a well that is at least 400 years old. Sections of historic paved paths, uncovered during archaeological investigations, can also be seen in the square. The well and paths show two different sides of the town’s history: an old, still-visible well and historic sections of paths uncovered through excavations.
Another dated building is the Grösselova Chapel: in 1697, the townsman and carter Christoph Grössel and his wife Elisabeth built it. The chapel is located at the corner of Žitavská and Nádražní streets and is considered a valuable monument from the late phase of the Early Baroque period.
Brána Trojzemí and the history of the Three-Country Point
The Brána Trojzemí building houses a museum, an information centre and a multifunctional hall that can be used for film screenings. The museum’s exhibitions focus on the history of the Three-Country Point; Brána Trojzemí also showcases artists from the Three-Country Point. While the churches and chapel highlight individual buildings and periods of architecture, Brána Trojzemí looks at the region’s wider cultural area.
Routes and landscape
The Na Trojmezí excursion runs from Grabštejn to Hrádek nad Nisou, either along the yellow- or green-marked route. Cycle route No. 3039 is also called Pašerácká and is now listed as Nová hřebenovka. The routes are described differently: Na Trojmezí is identified by its start and destination and the colour of its markings, while the cycle route is identified by its number and names.
Popova skála is a striking rock formation and viewpoint in the Lusatian Mountains above Hrádek nad Nisou; from there, you can see three countries. Another natural attraction is the Mokřady u Kristýny wetlands, in the groves between the Three-Country Point and Lake Kristýna. They are home to interesting aquatic animals and form a peaceful oasis for observant visitors. These therefore offer two distinct experiences: a rocky viewpoint and wetlands with aquatic wildlife and a tranquil atmosphere.
There is a boat rental at Kristýna; availability may vary seasonally. You can canoe along the Nisa from Machnín to the German town of Ostritz.
