Waterside Landscape and Location

Scheibenreuth (Okrouhlá) lies 12 km east of Cheb on the left bank of the Jesenická Reservoir. The Jesenický stream runs along the slopes around Okrouhlá and flows into the reservoir. The stream and the waterside location therefore describe different aspects of the local landscape: the course of the stream along the slopes and the village’s position by the reservoir.

Village History and Memorial Oak

The first written references to Okrouhlá date from 1299, when the estate belonged to the Paulsdorfer family. Another historical milestone is 1910: that year, the memorial oak “Valdštejn Oak” at the edge of the former castle park was ceremonially named in honour of Albrecht z Valdštejna. Its trunk circumference is 674 cm; it is one of the mightiest oaks in the Cheb region. The dates relate to different aspects: 1299 marks the early reference to the estate, while 1910 marks the honour bestowed on the tree. The circumference, by contrast, describes a physical characteristic of the oak and adds a measurable value to the historical information.

Wooden Sculpture and Fortress

In the centre of Okrouhlá, beneath the memorial oak “Valdštejnův dub,” stands the wooden sculpture “Ležícího Valdštejna.” The work adds an artistic touch to the village centre and complements the historical landmarks with a wooden sculpture. The fortress of Okrouhlá is not open to the public.

A local cycling route marked “397 2129” passes through Úbočí, Milíkov, Okrouhlá, Lipová and Mýtina and is designated as CZ/D 22. In the listed order, Okrouhlá follows Milíkov and comes before Lipová. Leisure and Seasonal Activities

Outdoor exercise equipment for children, teenagers and adults is installed in the park by the adjacent pergola. The municipality also has a campsite with camping facilities, a place to swim and safe access to the water. Check current conditions along the shore before visiting. The surrounding forests are considered rich in mushroom-picking opportunities; conditions for this are seasonal. Easter, autumn and Christmas craft workshops are held regularly. If you want to plan a trip specifically around one of these workshops, check the dates in advance.
