For travelers who want to put their stay in context through local history and village architecture, Nevratice offers several different points of interest. The oldest written mention of the village dates from 1398; the manor of Mikuláš z Úlibic is also documented at that time. Later evidence adds a former school, monuments in the village square, and surviving log houses to this early historical reference point.

History and the Village Square

The former school in Nevratice was completed in 1911; the idea for its construction emerged in 1908. The school is associated with a bust of Jan Ámos Komenský. This places an early historical reference from 1398 alongside a specific building project from the early 20th century. The dates 1908 and 1911 refer to different stages of the school: the idea for its construction and its completion.

The village square is dominated by a Baroque sculpture of Saint John of God. It stands on a pedestal bearing a relief of Saint Florian and dates from 1782. A Calvary monument featuring the body of Christ is also located in the village square; its pedestal bears a relief of the Virgin Mary. The dates 1774 and 1782 put the two works in direct relation: the Calvary monument is eight years older than the Baroque sculpture. Thus, two religious monuments with different figures and pedestal reliefs stand in the same village square.

Village Architecture and Places of Remembrance

Nevratice also has surviving examples of folk architecture in the form of log houses. Alongside the school and the monuments, they add another architectural dimension to the character of the village. A sandstone monument called “Křížek” is a separate memorial. As part of a restoration project funded in 2008, it was moved to the built-up area of Nevratice. The restoration project funded in 2008 belongs to a more recent period than the village-square monuments dating from the 18th century.

Location and Routes

Nevratice lies on the banks of the Javorka River. A route for pedestrians and cyclists was built between Nevratice and Chomutice; it runs along Road II/327 and was completed in 2018. The Nevratice–Chomutice Trail is also associated with an approval inspection in March 2019. The distinction from the local monuments is clear: this is a route between two named places. If you plan to include it in your itinerary, check current trail conditions in advance.

Other Features of the Village

A children’s playground for the youngest visitors is located next to the Nevratice municipal office. One example of local events is “Nevratická Bludička,” a night-time fire-sport competition for children and young people. The local volunteer fire brigade association held the eighth edition on 21 June 2025. If you would like to plan your stay around a future event, check the relevant announcement.
