Šárovcova Lhota offers tangible points of interest for travelers who want to include river scenery, hiking trails and historic sites in their stay. If you’re looking for hotels for a stay here, you can choose the focus of your trip based on the season and your interests: the Javorka, a hike or local history.

The Javorka, Hiking Trails and a Viewpoint

The Javorka flows through Šárovcova Lhota between Lázně Bělohrad and Ostroměř. A recurring event is also linked to the river: the Sjezd Javorky takes place every year between late April and early May as a descent of the Javorka. The event began in 2001. If you’re planning a trip for this period, check the exact event date in advance.

For a hike, Route No. 11 from Šárovcova Lhota is a specific option. It is six kilometers long and unsuitable for cyclists, as its first section leads through the forest on an unpaved path. The length and surface information help you plan the route as a hike rather than a bike ride.

The 1763 Hladoměř Plague Cross lies along hiking Route No. 11. It is located at a pavilion on the road from Ostroměř. By combining a hiking trail with a historic memorial site, the route offers a cultural-historical point of interest in addition to its distance. A green-marked hiking trail also passes through Šárovcova Lhota toward Ostroměř and Lázně Bělohrad.

Another place to stop is the “Vyhlídka na Český ráj” viewpoint bench: from there, the ruins of Trosky can be seen between the trees. The tree cover frames the view. If you’d like to combine scenery and historic sites during your visit, the viewpoint and the Plague Cross offer different ways to explore the surroundings.

The Cihelna Brickworks and Its Exhibition

During the season, guided tours of the round Cihelna brickworks, with expert commentary, are available by prior arrangement. If you plan to visit, arrange the tour in advance. This ensures you plan for a seasonal visit that requires an appointment, rather than assuming the site is open to visitors at any time.

The exhibition includes copies of original drawings, wooden brick molds, a steel turntable for brick carts and wooden supports. It also features a wooden hoist that is still functional. Together, the exhibits showcase different aspects of the brickworks: drawings, molds and technical equipment all have a place. The exhibition offers more than just a look at the building’s round shape.

Buildings and Memorial Sites

Gregorův hostinec is a two-story log house built around 1866 beside a path in the lower part of the settlement. The description connects its architectural style, approximate date of construction and location within the settlement. Another historic site is Hrádek: the complex covered an area of 170 × 140 meters, with a rampart and ditch protecting its eastern side. The measurements and description of the eastern side give two distinct features of the site without reducing its form to a single defensive structure.

A memorial stone from 1817 commemorating the founding of a forest stands by the road from Šárovcova Lhota to the settlement of Mezihoří. Below the settlement of Libín is a bust of the writer Alois Jirásek. Jan Štursa designed it, and Jan Kyselo sculpted it in sandstone. These places and details offer different ways to explore local history: a memorial stone with a specific dedication, a named settlement along the way and a work with known artistic attributions.
