Revnice: Culture, Local History and Walking Routes
Accommodation in Revnice
Revnice offers several ways to spend your stay: a historic townscape, cultural attractions and outdoor activities. When looking for a hotel, consider whether you would like to focus your time on local history, films or walks. The area’s features offer practical guidance for planning your trip.
Arriving by train
Revnice is on the Prague–Beroun railway line. If you plan to travel by train, check the timetable for your chosen travel date.
Townscape and archaeological history
The funnel-shaped square in Revnice is considered to be the work of a high-medieval settlement, probably founded before 1292. To the northeast, just beyond the square, stands the Church of St. Maurice and the Assumption of Mary. The square and the church offer different starting points for exploring the town’s history.
Hradiště Na Pišťáku is also designated as a significant archaeological site in Revnice. It lies on a steep rocky spur, also called Malá Babka. The fortified site consists of two to three arc-shaped ramparts and ditches dug in front of them. While the square is noted for its funnel shape, the description of Hradiště is shaped by its position on the rocky spur and its fortifications. A rocky spur is a projecting landform extending sideways from a slope or ridge.
Film screenings and the forest theatre
BIO Řevnice has offered regular film screenings since 2007. If you plan to go to the cinema, check the screening times during your stay. Lesní divadlo is reached via a forest walking trail. The two cultural attractions therefore involve different planning considerations: for the cinema, the specific screening time matters; for the forest theatre, the route through the woods leads to the venue.
Summer activities and walking routes
In summer, the Berounka in Revnice is used for water sports, including swimming and canoeing. These activities are seasonal, so take the summer period into account if you would like to include them in your trip plans.
The 11-kilometre circular route of the Fabiánova educational trail starts and ends at náměstí Krále Jiřího z Poděbrad. A walking route also leads from Revnice to Na Babku. The two routes offer different planning points: the educational trail is described as a circular route with a stated length, while the other route leads to a specific walking destination. Check the route markers and access before setting out, as route details may change.
Event history
The Pivní festival Řevnice has been held at least eight times; a ninth edition was announced for 23 May 2026 in the town square. One edition was announced to feature 13 breweries, selected refreshments and music. The programme may vary from one edition to another.
