Pustověty lies on the edge of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area and amid the Křivoklátsko forests. The deeply incised, gorge-like valley of the Rakovnický potok shapes the landscape; the picturesque Pustovětské Valley is also one of the village’s landscape features. Several cycling and hiking trails pass through Pustověty. The landscape, outdoor activities, and historic village character therefore offer different points of interest when choosing a destination.

Landscape and Trails

If you would like to explore the surrounding area on foot or by bike, you can include the trails that pass through the village in your plans. A red-marked KČT hiking route is also designated for Pustověty. The “Vůně dýmu a jehličí” (“Scent of Smoke and Needles”) educational trail is also designated for Pustověty. For a specific outing, we recommend checking the current route and conditions before setting off.

Village Center and Architectural History

The former water mill, No. 7, stands in the village center. A substantial part of its historic technical equipment has been preserved in the mill room. The mill was probably originally late Baroque and was later remodeled in the Neoclassical style. The presumed late Baroque original form and the Neoclassical remodeling represent two distinct building phases; the technical equipment adds insight into the building’s former use as a mill.

The historic village center preserves a group of large farmsteads and agricultural homesteads on a raised spur above a bend in the Rakovnický potok stream. The focus here is not on a single building, but on a preserved group whose location also reveals the relationship between the village center and the terrain. Together with the mill, it offers a distinct perspective on the history of Pustověty. A spur is a projecting section of terrain.

A Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, created by M. B. Braun in 1723, is another historic work in the village. The war memorial provides a different point of reference: erected in the 1920s, it is a prominent feature of the village green. The village landscape thus brings together a dated Baroque work and a 20th-century memorial.
