Neveklovice – Chapel, Village Green and Historic Traces
Accommodation in Neveklovice
The ring-shaped village green, a Neoclassical chapel and two commemorative trees give Neveklovice a variety of distinctive features. There are also historic traces, a marked hiking trail on the northern edge of the village and a viewpoint with views of several named landscape destinations. Together, these offer a mix of local history and time outdoors to consider when choosing your destination.
Chapel and Village Green
The rural Neoclassical chapel with a bell tower dates from 1800. It is an immovable cultural monument under registration number 30825/2-3595 and is one of Neveklovice’s architecturally valuable buildings. The ring-shaped village green is also designated as being of urban-planning value. This brings two scales together: the chapel as a single building and the green as the village’s spatial form. A group of two small-leaved lime trees stands by the chapel; the trees are designated as commemorative trees. Both trees are registered under code 3779. Bear in mind that their condition may change over time.
Buildings and Historic Traces
House No. 8 is also designated as an architecturally valuable log cabin. The village therefore has two distinct building types: the rural Neoclassical chapel with a bell tower and the house described as a log cabin. The village’s history also includes a historic road that has run through Neveklovice to Zittau since ancient times. Another specific historical reference dates from 1895: old pagan graves, urns and cremation sites were found while fields in Neveklovice were being farmed. These two accounts represent different kinds of history—a route through the village and archaeological finds unearthed during fieldwork.
The road and the hiking trail are two different things: one is a historic connection to Zittau; the other is a green-marked trail from Podhora to Mukařov. When planning your trip, do not confuse the historic route with the named hiking trail.
Hiking and Views
The area around Neveklovice is well suited to hiking. A green-marked hiking trail runs along the northern edge of Neveklovice, from Podhora to Mukařov. As trail conditions may change, check the latest conditions before setting out. A viewpoint in Neveklovice offers views of Ještěd, Kozákov and Český ráj, as well as Ralsko and Bezděz. The hiking trail has specifically named endpoints and a green marker; the viewpoint, in turn, is notable for its landscape destinations. Consider whether you would rather include a marked walking route or a place with specific views in your travel plans.
Nearby
The Zásadka Castle ruins lie nearby, southeast of Neveklovice. They are a separate point of interest in the surrounding area and are not among the buildings in the village.
