Culture in Canillo

In the parish church of Sant Serni, the 17th-century Baroque main altarpiece is dedicated to Sant Serni, a 3rd-century bishop and martyr from Toulouse. The artwork and dedication therefore refer to different centuries. For a cultural visit, the altarpiece offers a close look at the Baroque furnishings and the saint whose name the church bears.

The Museu de la Moto in Canillo focuses on the development of the motorcycle. Its collection includes early steam-powered motorcycles, including a model by Sylvester Howard Roper from 1867, as well as early gasoline-powered motorcycles from the late 19th century. It also features racing, road and off-road motorcycles. Canillo’s motorcycle museum displays 150 models from well-known brands across 700 m² and illustrates the development of the motorcycle from 1896 to 2013. The 1867 Roper model is a specific early point of reference within this overview of development through 2013.
