Svogerslev brings together a lake landscape, trails and local history. When planning a stay, the Lynghøjsøerne and Svogerslev Sø, part of the chain of lakes in Kornerup Ådal, are of particular interest. There are also medieval and prehistoric remains. You can shape your stay around nature, outdoor activities or local history.

Lake landscape and trails

The Lynghøjsøerne consist of three lakes: Lyngager Sø, Flæng Sø and Vejgård Sø. They were created from a former raw-material extraction site that was transformed into a natural area close to town. A well-developed network of trails invites you to hike, cycle and ride horses. This offers different ways to explore the landscape; you can choose which activity to focus on according to your travel plans.

There are bathing beaches at the western and central lakes. The troll figure Runde Rie sits fishing by the central lake. This distribution is useful for finding your way around the group: beaches are found at two lakes, while the figure is associated with the central lake. These features make it possible to distinguish between the three bodies of water.

Svogerslev Sø and Kornerup Å

Svogerslev Sø is part of the chain of lakes in Kornerup Ådal and is home to a diverse fish population. The area by the lake can be accessed via Søbredden and the Skjoldungestien trail along Kornerup Å. The meadows along the lake are home to, among other things, kødfarvet gøgeurt and majgøgeurt, as well as other interesting plant species. Svogerslev Sø therefore offers a focus on lakeside access, plant life and fish, while the Lynghøjsøerne offer something different, with their three lakes, trails and bathing beaches.

The hand-operated ferry across Kornerup Å can be reached on foot from the east via the Skjoldungestien trail. As trail conditions may change seasonally, check the latest conditions before setting out. Boserupkilen also forms a green link between Roskilde and Svogerslev, providing another regional point of reference for planning your trip.

Local history and planning your visit

The history of the area spans two distinct periods. Svogerslev Church is a small medieval church dating from the mid-12th century. Dømmes Høj is a protected prehistoric burial mound and part of a series of Bronze Age burial mounds dating from around 1700 to 1100 BC. Together, these remains span the period from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages and offer another focus for visitors interested in culture.

Café Runde Rie shares its name with the troll figure by the central lake. If you plan to visit, check the latest opening hours.

If you are looking for a hotel in Svogerslev, choosing a theme for your trip can help you decide what to focus on during your stay: the Lynghøjsøerne bring together lakes, trails and bathing beaches; Svogerslev Sø offers a focus on the lakeside landscape and nature observation, while the church and burial mound add cultural interest. Then compare the details of each hotel offer with your own travel plans.
