Lintrup: Church Trails, History and Nature
Accommodation in Lintrup
Lintrup brings together church and military history with short walking trails, a nature area and opportunities to observe wildlife. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Lintrup, your interests in local attractions can guide how you plan your stay: options include a Romanesque church with a historic piece of interior decoration, walking trails of varying lengths, man-made lakes, and a zoo where you can be a zookeeper for a day. The different attractions offer different focal points. You can decide what matters most to you, whether it is architectural history, a particular trail length, a break in the nature area or animal species.
The Church and the Camino
Lintrup Kirke is a whitewashed Romanesque church, built between 1150 and 1175. Inside, a chancel arch crucifix dating from around 1250 serves as an altar ornament. The construction date and the furnishings provide two historical points of interest: the church dates to the 12th century, while the crucifix is a later addition. The church can therefore be appreciated both for its Romanesque architecture and for a distinctive detail inside.
Lintrup Kirke is on the Frøs Camino, a walking trail between churches in the former Frøs Herred. The Camino Frøs Herred includes a 5.8 km section from Lintrup Kirke to the Kanonstellung ved Dover, south of Foldingbro. Lintrup’s walking options therefore include both a church trail with historical regional connections and a specific route with a named start and destination. As well as the trail’s historical connection, its length is a clear factor to consider when choosing a walk.
History and Landscape
Pansergraven ved Lintrup is a reconstruction showing what the approximately 255 km-long Gudrunstellung looked like during the Second World War. A nature area with man-made lakes is right next to Pansergraven. Picnic shelters in this nature area are free to use. This brings together a military history attraction, man-made lakes and a free place to take a break.
Short Routes and a Longer Section
Sporet ved Lintrup consists of four short routes measuring 1.9 km, 2.2 km, 1.8 km and 2.5 km. The shortest and longest routes differ by 0.7 km, clearly indicating the range of distances on offer. All four routes are marked throughout, and there is a QR code at the starting point. The 5.8 km section of the Camino Frøs Herred is longer than any of the Sporet routes. If you compare trail lengths, you can choose between the four shorter routes and the longer section.
Glad Zoo
Glad Zoo near Lintrup is home to more than 70 different animal species. There is also an opportunity to be a zookeeper for a day. A visit to the zoo therefore offers both animal species to see and a special zookeeper experience. These two aspects appeal to different interests: when planning your trip, you can focus on the variety of animals or consider the one-day zookeeper experience as a special highlight.
