If you’re looking for a hotel for a trip to Kvie, you can choose where to stay based on two landscapes: Kvie Sø and Pølmosen, southwest of the lake. A path runs around the lakeshore, while a signposted route circles the moor at Pølmosen. The difference is not just the distance, but also the surroundings you’d like to explore during your trip.

Kvie Sø: Water and nature

Kvie Sø is a protected lobelia lake. Its protected status is intended to safeguard underwater plants. The lake covers about 30 hectares and is approximately 2.6 metres deep at its deepest point. Rare plants grow in its clear, nutrient-poor water, including Gulgrøn Brasenføde. Various species of ducks are often spotted on Kvie Sø.

For nature lovers, the lake offers more than a walk along the shore: rare plants and frequently spotted duck species add specific nature-related features to the protected lobelia lake.

Walking route around Kvie Sø

The path around Kvie Sø is about 2.3 kilometres long and is also easy to walk with a pushchair. On the southern shore, a dam between the lake and the adjacent moor remains part of the walking route. These are two distinct features to consider when planning your trip: the path’s suitability for pushchairs and a section at the transition between lake and moor.

A public car park on Kvie Søvej is about 70 metres northwest of the bathing area; a footpath connects the car park to the bathing area. If you’re planning a visit, you can take the car park’s location and the walking route into account.

Pølmosen: Moor and circular route

Pølmosen, a 17-hectare grazed moorland area, lies southwest of Kvie Sø. A signposted walking trail runs for 2.5 kilometres around the moor. This makes the route in Pølmosen distinct from the one around the lake: here, the grazed moorland takes centre stage.

At about 2.3 kilometres around Kvie Sø and 2.5 kilometres in Pølmosen, the routes are similar in length. The surroundings are therefore a more useful factor in your choice than the small difference in distance: lakeshore on one route, moor on the other.

Pandekagehuset has an indoor play area for children aged four to twelve. For families with children in this age group, it can be a separate activity alongside the outdoor trails.

A local legend about Kvie Sø tells of a friendly troll king who demanded a heifer as an annual sacrifice. This story adds a piece of local folklore to the nature-related features around the lake.
