Øster Hurup brings together the beach, harbor and activities in town as different starting points for a trip. If you’re looking for a hotel in Øster Hurup, you can consider what you want to focus on during your stay: the beach and SUP offer time by the water, while Fruerlundparken and Legeland offer activities on land. The church adds an architectural touch.

Beach and SUP by the water

Øster Hurup’s beach has shallow water and small waves, making it suitable for families. The northern section has miles of white sand. There are parking spaces and a modern toilet building near the beach. Shallow water and small waves give you an idea of the beach conditions; if you’re particularly interested in white sand, the northern section of the beach is the place to go.

At the SUP spot in Øster Hurup, the whole family can try stand-up paddleboarding at the harbor or on the calm sandy beach. The shallow water allows beginners to test their balance on the board. Boards can be launched from the beach just north of the harbor. Conditions depend on the weather and local safety conditions; when launching from the beach, activity in the harbor also plays a role. This gives you both places to try the activity and a specific spot to launch your board.

Harbor, views and a walking route

The harbor is one of the town’s meeting places: recreational sailors meet local fishermen here. This gives the harbor a maritime connection to everyday local fishing, in addition to its importance for water sports.

The 9-meter-high tower offers views over the Kattegat. Engbroen provides a route to Øster Hurup harbor, taking pedestrians from the area by the tourist office and public toilets, across the beach meadow, to the marina. The tower and the walking route offer different highlights: the tower opens up views over the Kattegat, while Engbroen leads on foot toward the marina.

Fruerlundparken and Legeland

Fruerlundparken is a well-maintained, fenced 15-hectare area with, among other things, two lakes. Weekly activities such as krolf and pétanque take place there. So, in addition to the beach and harbor, the park and its regular group activities offer another focus for planning your day.

Øster Hurup Legeland has a jungle area with a slide and climbing tubes. There are also playhouses and a toy road track for younger children. For families, these are different options from the beach: shallow water and small waves shape a day at the beach, while Legeland offers play areas for a variety of activities.

Church and summer live music

Øster Hurup Church was built based on the design of Sct. Peters Kirke in Randers. Those interested in church architecture will find a specific architectural connection here. In summer, there is live music outdoors at the harbor. If you’re planning to travel for the music, check the event dates for your travel period.
