If you’re looking for a hotel in Løkken, its beach, coastal paths and maritime history help you get a sense of the destination. Experiences range from walks along the North Sea to routes where traces of the Second World War are visible.

Beach and coast

In summer, around 500 privately owned white beach huts stand on Løkken Beach. They have earned Løkken the nickname “the white town”. Cars are allowed on Løkken South Beach, which is also designated as a winter bathing beach. A sand competition for children is held on a car-free section of the beach as a proud local tradition.

At Løkken Moleleje, De Maritime Huse offers a public café, changing rooms, showers and toilets, as well as places to relax and picnic for beachgoers and visitors. The 200-metre-long Løkken Pier invites visitors to take a stroll with views of the North Sea and the sunset. Fishing is also part of the coastal scene: in Løkken, fish are still landed from the open beach and sold directly from the boat. Boat activity and the fish on offer may vary.

Coastal paths, art and bunkers

The Kløverstier offer routes of varying lengths: the green Kløversti starts and ends at Løkken Torv and is 2.6 kilometres long. The black Kløversti runs for 11 kilometres from the town centre to Nr. Lyngby; on the way there, it follows the beach. Bunkers from the Second World War are visible on the beach along the black route. The red Kløversti passes through Vendsyssel Plantage and by a bunker built during the Second World War. The Løkken Tourist Office provides maps for the local Kløverstier.

The Nordsøstien also passes through Løkken. De Maritime Huse offers a rest stop along this route, where visitors can enjoy the dune landscape, beach and sea. If you’d like to combine art and a walk, the Løkken Kunststi is a six-kilometre art trail featuring more than 40 works, including murals, sculptures and activities for children.

The Løkken Bunkersti is a family-friendly walking route through woodland and the town, with bunkers to explore along the way. Check local route information before setting out. North of Løkken, there is also a large coastal cliff for paragliding that stretches about ten kilometres northward.

Maritime history and culture

Løkken Museum is located in Johanne Grønbechs Hus, a skipper’s house built around 1860. Its themes include the town’s trade, history, crafts and tourism. In the museum garden, an old bathhouse houses an exhibition on bathing culture in Løkken. The old lifeboat station, Løkken Redningshus, is home to the Løkken Kystfiskerimuseum, which explores rescue services and fishing.
