Struer offers a range of themes to consider when planning your trip: sound art, railway history, cultural attractions and trails through green spaces and natural areas. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first consider which of these aspects of the city interests you most. The following places and attractions offer different experiences—from preserved shop interiors and museum exhibits to marked trails and a wildlife reserve.

Sound, Trade and Railway History

Three iconic tuning forks created by The Overheard stand at T.W. Jensens Plads. When struck, the Stemmegaflerne play recordings of Struer residents’ voices and light up in the evening. The sculptures bring together sound, voices and light. They are a distinct attraction for anyone interested in the connection between art and sound.

The Old General Store exhibition offers a different glimpse into the city’s history. It preserves the original interior of Niels V. Jensen’s grocery store, which operated from 1934 to 1993 on the corner of Danmarksgade and Nygade. While the tuning forks make voices audible, this exhibition focuses on a preserved shop and its furnishings. The exhibition is open on Saturdays from 10:00 to 12:00 or by appointment with the museum; confirm the opening times before your visit.

The Mid and West Jutland Railway Museum is located just behind Struer Station, along the old goods railway line. Exhibits include old tickets, train carriages and an old MX locomotive. Its location behind the station and the goods railway line give the railway theme a tangible connection to the place. When planning your visit, you can distinguish this focus from the history of the general store: here, the emphasis is on rail transport and its artefacts.

Cultural Attractions and Historical Dates

Gimsinghoved Art and Culture Centre hosts art exhibitions and live concerts. Both visiting exhibitions and attending music events are cultural activities you can consider when planning your trip. If you want to plan your visit around a concert, check the date in advance.

Struer Church also has a specific historical connection: it was consecrated on 20 December 1891. On the Bang & Olufsen Factory Tour, visitors learn about the acoustician behind the company’s sound. Tour details and availability may change; check them before planning your visit.

Trails, Kilen and Green Spaces

There are two walking routes to choose from, with different approximate lengths. Den Grønne Ring is about 8 kilometres long and passes through various green spaces and natural areas in Struer. Hjertestien ved Kilen is a marked trail of about 4 kilometres that runs along Kilen near Voldgade and Sarpsborgvej. By approximate distance, Hjertestien is about half as long as Den Grønne Ring. You can compare the two routes by length and described route without confusing their themes.

Kilen is part of the lake area and is designated as a wildlife reserve to protect the area’s wildlife. This protective role is a distinct aspect of the landscape at Kilen. Struer Lystanlæg and Borgerlunden are laid out as English landscape gardens and maintained accordingly; the sites also include a nature playground. Thus, alongside the trails, the options include both landscaped green spaces and a specifically designated playground.

Other Interests During Your Stay

Struer Harbour comprises a commercial harbour and a marina. If you are comparing activities beyond cultural attractions and trails, you can also find a 9-hole pay-and-play course at Struer Golf Club, where anyone can try golf. Kurbad Limfjorden offers an outdoor spa. Golf and spa are two different leisure options that you can include in your trip plans according to your interests.
