For a trip to Hedensted, culture, golf and outdoor trails offer different options to explore. The medieval Hedensted Church combines a distinctive architectural design with a large stone relief. Hedensted Søerne offers a lakeside landscape with a walking trail and disc golf; in Sebberup Skov, there is a waymarked route with a forest fitness area. There is also the pay-and-play course at Hedensted Golf Klub. You can tailor your stay to the activities that matter most to you.

Medieval details at Hedensted Church

In the Middle Ages, Hedensted Church consisted of a nave, chancel and apse. The sections are built from granite blocks, with some travertine blocks also used. A small Romanesque window has been preserved in the apse. The architecture and building materials offer several specific details to look out for during your visit.

There is a very large stone relief on the south side. It depicts an angel—the Archangel Michael—and a devil battling over the souls of people and weighing good and evil in the soul. The artwork adds a distinctive feature alongside the church’s architectural design.

On weekdays, the church is open to visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. At weekends, it is accessible during services and church ceremonies. Plan your visit around these times.

Pay-and-play golf in Hedensted

Hedensted Golf Klub offers a 9-hole pay-and-play course. Everyone is welcome to play, including non-members and people with no previous golfing experience. You do not need to be a member or have prior golfing experience to take part.

The course is 1,800 metres long and has five par-4 holes and four par-3 holes. If golf is part of your travel plans, you can take the course length and the layout of its nine holes into account when choosing an option.

Seven lakes and outdoor trails

Hedensted Søerne is a local recreational area on the western edge of Hedensted. Seven large lakes lie amid woodland, trees and meadows, with trails running through the area. A walking trail of about four kilometres goes around the seven lakes. Its approximate length and circular route offer a helpful guide if you would like to combine a walk with the lakeside landscape.

There is also a 9-hole disc golf course in the same recreational area. It is open to everyone and free to use. This gives you two different activities to choose from at the lakes: a walk around the water or disc golf. Your choice will depend primarily on your interests and the type of activity you would like to include in your plans.

Walking route and forest fitness in Sebberup Skov

A waymarked walking route, 3.5 kilometres long, runs through the southern part of Sebberup Skov. It passes a forest fitness area with twelve activities, which visitors can use free of charge. The route combines walking with the opportunity to try the individual fitness activities along the way.

There is also a shelter in the forest with a fire pit and toilet. Free overnight stays are available there on a first-come, first-served basis. Bear this condition in mind if you plan to stay overnight.

The walking options vary in length and setting: at Hedensted Søerne, the trail of about four kilometres loops around seven lakes; the waymarked route in the southern part of Sebberup Skov is 3.5 kilometres long and passes the forest fitness area. You can choose between a lakeside loop and a forest route with fitness activities, without interpreting the distance information as an indication of difficulty.
