Klampenborg appeals to travelers with different interests: Bellevue brings together beach and architecture, Jægersborg Dyrehave is known for its deer and ancient oaks, and the racecourse has a long history of racing. When planning your trip, consider whether nature, culture, the beach or a particular race should shape your stay.

Bellevue: sandy beach and architecture

Bellevue is a 700-meter-long sandy beach in Klampenborg. Bellevue Strandpark has public toilets and a kiosk; there is also a lifeguard there during the bathing season. Seasonal facilities and lifeguard coverage may change. If these services are important for your visit, check the latest information in advance.

Architecture is also a defining feature of Bellevue: Arne Jacobsen designed Bellevue Strandbad and its buildings. Another architectural landmark is Bellevue Teatret on Strandvejen in Klampenborg. The theater was built in 1936 to a design by Jacobsen. It stages plays and hosts concerts and salons. This means different cultural offerings sit alongside the beach-related appeal of a visit to the same place, without requiring both to be the reason for your trip.

A guided tour introduces visitors to the history of Bellevue Teatret. Dates and availability may change. If you would like to include the tour in your plans, check current visiting options in advance.

Jægersborg Dyrehave: deer, oaks and history

Around 2,000 red deer, fallow deer and sika deer live in Jægersborg Dyrehave. This is an approximate figure and may change. In addition to its wildlife, ancient oaks are a defining feature of the area. This offers two different focal points for your visit: the deer species that live here and the old trees.

Historically, Jægersborg Dyrehave is part of the former royal hunting park within the Par Force Hunting Landscape in North Zealand. This also makes the site interesting for travelers who want to explore landscape and history together. At Peter Liepsvej, in front of Klampenborgporten, you can hire a horse-drawn carriage driven by a coachman. Availability and booking arrangements may change.

The Jægersborg Hegn til Dyrehaven route passes Klampenborg Station. If you would like to use the route, check the current route conditions and train service in advance.

Bakken and horse racing

Dyrehaven is home to Bakken, the oldest amusement park in the world. The park has 36 rides; this number may change. Together with Dyrehaven’s nature and history, it offers a different reason to plan a trip, without equating the rides with a beach visit or an event.

Klampenborg Galopbane opened on June 1, 1910; horse races have been held there continuously ever since. Today, it is Denmark’s only racecourse devoted exclusively to horse racing. The Bucherer Derby is run over 2,400 meters. The Taittinger Skandinavisk Ladies Cup is for female amateur jockeys; the winning jockey receives her body weight in Taittinger Rosé Champagne. Damernes Dag also includes a competition for the best-dressed outfit with a hat. These examples highlight different aspects: race distance, competition tradition and one part of the event program.

Dates and programs may change. If you are traveling to Klampenborg for a particular race, check the event dates before making plans. The racecourse is within walking distance of Klampenborg and Ordrup stations. There is a bus stop for route 388 directly in front of the main entrance. As transport services may change, check your connection before traveling.
