Discover Midskov
Accommodation in Midskov
Midskov brings together North Funen building traditions and archaeological history with a varied coastal landscape. A longer circular cycling route and night fishing may also be relevant to your travel plans. If you’re looking for a hotel in Midskov, these different highlights can help you choose a destination that suits your interests.
Local History and Architectural Heritage
Midskov is a clearance village established by settlers from Mesinge. A clearance village is formed by clearing land. A hoard from the Late Bronze Age was also found at Midskov: seven gold bowls, dated to approximately 1100 to approximately 500 BC. An earthwork stood in the fields of Enggård; it was levelled in 1850. Midskov is an outstanding example of the fine building traditions of North Funen. Its architectural heritage adds a regional architecture perspective to the history of the village’s founding and the archaeological find.
Peninsula and Coastline
Midskov lies on the Skoven Peninsula, between Dalby Bay and the fjord coast. A varied stretch of coastline about 6 km long runs around Dalby Bay. Its features include deep hollows, stones, sandy areas, and diverse ground vegetation. The coast is not defined by sand alone; it encompasses a range of landforms, surfaces, and plants. The approximately 6 km refers to the stretch of coastline around Dalby Bay, while the location between the bay and the fjord coast gives Midskov its geographical setting.
Cycling Route and Night Fishing
The Hindsholm Rundt circular cycling route is about 60 km long and gently undulating. It passes manor houses, burial mounds, and natural areas. Its length, terrain, and points of interest offer different criteria for planning: the scope of the loop, its route profile, and the themes along the way. Compared with the approximately 6 km coastal stretch at Dalby Bay, Hindsholm Rundt is a circular cycling route of a different scale and offers a different perspective on the landscape.
A road on the Midskov Peninsula is signposted to Gabet; it leads to Gabet and the Lodshusene. At the far end of the peninsula near Gabet is one of Funen’s best spots for night fishing. If you’re planning to fish at night, check current access arrangements in advance.
Midskov Shelters
If you’re considering an overnight stay in a shelter as well as hotels, Midskov Shelters has two identical shelters of the “Skrubben” type, each with space for two people. The site can be reached by kayak, on foot, by bicycle, or by car. This gives you capacity and access options to consider as separate planning factors. Access arrangements and site details may change; check the latest information before your visit.
