The Municipality of Seget has several facets: Baroque architecture in the castle, historic trails leading to Mount Vlaška, an old harbor in Seget Donji and the coastal landscape of the Seget Riviera. Building history, activity on the trail and maritime tradition each give the destination its own distinctive character.

Castle and historic buildings

The Baroque Church of Our Lady of the Rosary dominates the center of the castle. It was built from white dressed stone at the beginning of the second half of the 18th century. This clearly identified building shapes the castle’s appearance and gives Seget’s history a concrete architectural form.

In the Seget field stands the square Renaissance tower of the Statilić family, dating from 1516. Viewed alongside the church, the buildings represent different eras: the tower from the early 16th century and the Baroque church from the second half of the 18th century. The dates help distinguish the buildings chronologically without combining them into a single building history.

The layout of Seget Donji can also be understood through its street plan. Three longitudinal and two crosswise stone-paved streets ran through the castle. This brings the historic arrangement of the routes into focus alongside the individual buildings.

Seget’s patronal feast day is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary and is celebrated on the first Sunday in October. This calendar date adds a religious connection to the church and building history, also reflected in the name Gospe od Ružarija.

The Trail of Health and its waypoints

The Trail of Health leads from Seget to Napoleon's Path, onward to the 13th-century Church of Saint Elias and up to the summit of Mount Vlaška. The route therefore connects historic and landscape landmarks: the stretch along the path is followed by a church with its own date, then the mountain summit as the named destination. Its course offers a guide for anyone wishing to get to know Seget through its trails and their stops.

Napoleon's Path was built in 1807 during French rule over Dalmatia and later converted into a Trail of Health. The trail is suitable for both hiking and cycling. History and present-day use are two distinct aspects of the same route: the construction date places Napoleon's Path in its historical context, while hiking and cycling describe the stated ways to use the trail.

Coast, old harbor and marina

Sandy beaches and clear seas define the Seget Riviera. The coastal landscape thus offers a distinct travel experience alongside the buildings and trails inland. As you plan, consider whether you are most interested in this coastal aspect or in Seget’s historic and active pursuits.

At the old harbor in Seget Donji, fishermen come in and display their catch, continuing a centuries-old Mediterranean tradition. The harbor thus represents a different maritime theme from Marina Baotić in Seget, which has more than 400 berths. The fishing tradition and the marina’s capacity offer two distinct perspectives on Seget’s connection with the sea.

Choosing how to experience the Municipality of Seget

If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, you can start by deciding what you want to focus on during your trip. The church, Renaissance tower and streets of the castle tell the story of its architecture; the Trail of Health is suitable for both hiking and cycling. The harbor and marina offer different maritime experiences, while the Seget Riviera is known for its sandy beaches and clear seas. This comparison can help you choose which aspects of the Municipality of Seget are of greatest interest to you on your trip.
