Kozarica between the beach and the slatina
Kozarica has a beach and is known for its slatina: a brackish pond surrounded by citrus groves, a vegetable garden and olive groves. This puts both the coast and a cultivated landscape at the forefront when choosing a destination. If you would like to consider landscape features like these alongside the beach, the slatina offers a specific indication of Kozarica’s character.

Harbour and local history
In the 2021–2027 municipal development plan, Kozarica is listed as a harbour of local importance for maritime traffic on Mljet. If you wish to use a specific maritime connection, check current schedules and service information in advance.
Another facet of the village’s history is the chapel dedicated to Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus. Local residents and donors worked on its construction from 1979 onwards; it was blessed in 2022. Its dedication and the involvement of residents give the chapel a distinct place in Kozarica’s cultural and spiritual landscape.
Mljet as the wider setting
Within the wider destination of Mljet, Mljet National Park lies within the municipality of Općina Mljet. Mljet’s landscape features include Veliko jezero and Malo jezero: two deep bays known as lakes, connected to the open sea via the Solinski Channel. This regional context complements Kozarica’s own characteristics without replacing them.
On the island of Saint Mary, in the southern part of the Great Lake, there are a Benedictine monastery and the Church of Saint Mary. The monastery was built between 1177 and 1198; the central part of the church has retained its Romanesque style. For travel plans that also take the wider destination’s history and architecture into account, these are distinct Mljet attractions.
The island of Mljet’s only ferry terminal is in Sobra. Ferry schedules are seasonal and subject to change; check them before your trip.
