Two themes come together in Pasjak: an MTB route leading to the Fort of Pasjak, and the Roman fortification remains at Gradina. For planning your trip, they offer a concrete impression of what makes the area distinctive—from the historic site to views of the Kvarner Gulf and Velebit.

The “Antičke utvrde” MTB Route

The “Antičke utvrde” route runs from Veli Brgud to the 3rd-century Fort of Pasjak and continues to Brdce. Along the way, there are views towards the Kvarner Gulf and Velebit. This makes both the historic stop and the scenery along the route central to the experience. If you are planning an organised ride, check the current dates and arrangements: organised rides and their specific details may vary.

Gradina and the Roman Fortification

Above Pasjak, Gradina preserves the remains of a Roman fortification beside the former Tarsatica–Tergeste road. The site dates to around AD 270. About 200 metres of conserved walls, two entrance towers and a visible stone threshold remain. These features make the architectural remains easy to appreciate without a lengthy description: the wall lines, towers and threshold are concrete details to focus on.

Archaeological remains and their interpretation are a lasting part of the area’s history; access conditions at the site may change. Check the current access situation before visiting.

Lipa pamti Memorial Centre and Visitor Information

The Memorijalni centar Lipa pamti opened in April 2015 on the site of an older memorial museum that operated in Lipa from 1968 to 1989. Its exhibition interprets the history of the Second World War in the Liburnian Karst, which includes Pasjak, Rupa, Šapjane and Brdce as well as Lipa. The centre thus provides a distinct cultural and historical point of interest within the wider destination of Općina Matulji.

The centre is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 am to 3 pm, and Thursdays and Saturdays from 12 pm to 7 pm; it is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Suburban bus route 30 runs from Delta in the centre of Rijeka to Lipa. Lipa is the terminus; from there, the centre is accessible via a roughly 100-metre uphill walk. Parking is permitted nearby.
