If you are looking for a hotel in Barici and cycling is part of your travel plans, the routes through Barići offer a concrete starting point. Nearby Višnjan, a marked hiking trail and historic sites add to the choice of excursions. First consider whether you mainly want to ride a road bike or include a hike and cultural stops in your plans.

Road Cycling Routes Through Barići

Regional road cycling route 47 passes through Barići between Karojba and Vižinada. A Buje road cycling route also passes through Barići between these two places. A regional road cycling connection through inland Istria includes Barići and links Vižinada, Karojba, Motovun, Oprtalj and Buje. This means that both Karojba and Vižinada, as well as other places in the interior, are route options. Routes and signage may change; check them before setting out.

Another road reference is county road ŽC 5222. The Croatian road classification published in July 2024 lists it as running from Barići (DC 200) to Karojba (ŽC 5007) and gives its length as 6.279 kilometres.

Cycling Loops and Hiking Trails near Višnjan

The Zvjezdana cycling loop starts in the centre of Višnjan, passes through Baškoti and Dubrava to Tićan, and returns via the Istrian woods and lavender fields near Deklevi. It is family-oriented and considered suitable for younger and less experienced cyclists. The Zvjezdana staza runs along forest paths, through vineyards and nearby villages towards Tićan. The new observatory building and the Kameni krug installation are located there.

The marked Sovina staza offers a different perspective: this 7.7-kilometre hiking route follows forest and gravel paths, passes Deklevi and Kočići, and continues to Tičan before returning to Višnjan. The route includes the Vena viewpoint. From there, you can see olive groves, vineyards and the sea; on clear days, the view extends as far as Učka, Ćićarija, the Julian Alps and the Dolomites. Visibility of these more distant mountains therefore depends on clear weather.

The Staza venecijanskog lava is another hiking option nearby. The route passes through historic Višnjan and the old settlement of Barat, is 4.5 kilometres long and takes approximately 2.5 hours. When planning your excursions, you can compare a longer marked hiking route with a shorter one for which an approximate duration is also given.

It dates from the transition between the 13th and 14th centuries and contains 16th-century frescoes and Glagolitic graffiti. In the wider destination of Općina Višnjan, the old part of Višnjan sits on a hill. Closely spaced stone houses and narrow lanes define it; a Baroque loggia stands in the main square of the historic old town.
