Explore Lipovljani via trails through the town, religious buildings and regional cultural attractions. When planning your visit, it is worth noting the differences: the Lipa trail passes through the centre, another walking trail runs near Piljenice, and the Kraljeva Route connects several places by bicycle.

Explore Lipovljani and its cultural history on foot

The Lipa walking route runs through the centre of Lipovljani and is 5.5 kilometres long. Along the way are Lipovljani Park, the memorial room for writer and forester Josip Kozarac, St. Joseph’s and St. Anne’s churches, the school arboretum and the Slovak Ethno House. This route offers a way to explore several local landmarks. The wider travel destination of the Municipality of Lipovljani estimates that the Lipa takes about one hour and ten minutes.

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Joseph was completed in 1772 and features late Baroque elements. St. Anne’s is a Greek Catholic church. The Slovak Ethno House houses an ethnographic collection and serves as a venue for cultural events of the Slovak minority. Visiting arrangements for indoor spaces may vary.

The annual calendar also offers a regional occasion to plan a trip: in the wider travel destination of the Municipality of Lipovljani, the Lipovljanski susreti festival takes place every year on the last weekend of August in the centre of Lipovljani; the tradition dates back to 1974. The festival includes a large ethno-gastronomy market in the central park, featuring traditional foods.

Nature park and woodland trail near Piljenice

Lonjsko polje Nature Park extends partly into the Municipality of Lipovljani; around 40 per cent of its area lies within the park. Lipovljani, Piljenice and Kraljeva Velika form its northern entrance area. The nature park is associated locally with preserved nature, plant diversity and numerous bird species.

The Tenina staza educational forest trail is located in the nature park near Piljenice. This very easy 2.5-kilometre circular trail passes through lowland woodland of oak and hornbeam. Sixteen educational panels focus on this type of forest. The trail is near the Vaclavekov mill and the fishpond. Visits must be arranged in advance with the park’s visitor centres; the trail is visited with a park guide.

Walk along the Pakra or take a cycling tour

The nearby Slikovite Piljenice walking route is a 4.5-kilometre linear trail through Piljenice along the Pakra. It passes historic mills, bridges and rural architecture, and ends at Jame Gradine in Kraljeva Velika, a spot for nature visitors and anglers. Check local conditions and access before setting out.

For cycling, the Kraljeva Route offers a different kind of itinerary: the 30-kilometre loop connects Lipovljani, Piljenice and Kraljeva Velika. An optional detour leads to Opeka in Lonjsko polje. The ride is estimated to take around 70 to 90 minutes. As the route and estimated time should be checked against current signage or local information, the cycling route is easy to distinguish from the walking trails, which follow their own routes.
