Information and activities in the village

It also offers equipment and access to routes with mountain and tour guides. When planning, you can consider independent routes and guided trails as different options.

Culture and leisure in Arda

Historical landmarks associated with Arda include the Thracian sanctuary near Rasiltsa, which is believed to be at least 2,500 years old. Two churches were built in 882; a map of the Balkans is preserved in St. Nicholas Church.

Leisure activities include cycling and horse-riding tourism, a ski lift, the Tarzan's Garden rope park, and rock climbing on a crag beside a church. The information distinguishes between types of tourism, such as cycling and horse-riding, and specific leisure activities, such as the ski lift, rope park, and climbing.

Hike to the source and onward trail

Near Arda, a marked trail to the source of the Arda begins at the hamlet of Bilyanska. The footpath is about three kilometers long and passes through broad meadows, deciduous and coniferous forests, gorges, and over slopes. The route is considered scenic. Vehicles with high ground clearance can reach the start of the footpath.

At the source, there are picnic facilities with fire pits, pavilions, and a shelter. The Dyadova Ryaka complex is located along the trail, where you can try trout and other dishes described as eco-friendly. The stops have different focuses: picnic facilities are available at the source, while you can sample food at Dyadova Ryaka.

From the source, a marked path continues to Ardin Peak, a summit 1,730 meters high on the Bulgarian-Greek border. The approximate three-kilometer distance refers to the footpath to the source; the path to the summit starts there and is described as a continuation. When planning your route, you can treat the path to the source and the onward trail to the summit as two separate sections.

Arda in the route itinerary

The described itinerary for Route 303 of the Bulgarian Tourist Union uses Arda as an overnight base. After visiting Uhlovitsa Cave, the route returns to Arda; it also leads back there after a full-day hike from Mogilitsa. Other sections include a meadow hike through Gudevitsa and Gozdevitsa with an outdoor lunch, as well as a walk along the Arda River and a visit to Tipets Cave before the route returns to Arda. Unlike the single trail to the source, this itinerary connects several sections with Arda as the return point.
