Bozhurets: Beach and Black Sea Views
Accommodation in Bozhurets
Bozhurets offers specific points of interest for a trip focused on beaches and the coast: Bozhurets–Topola 3 Beach and views of the Black Sea from a hillside near the village center. The Kavarna destination also offers nature, culture and history.
Beach and Village Views in Bozhurets
Bozhurets–Topola 3 Beach is located in the territory of Bozhurets. Its beach area covers 5,573 square meters, and its coastline is 561 meters long. These measurements describe different aspects of the same beach: one is the area, the other the length of the shoreline.
A hillside near the village center offers views across the Black Sea, of small beaches and of the nearby golf complex. The range of the view may vary depending on vegetation and access conditions. If you include this viewpoint in your plans, expect visibility to vary.
Coastal and Nature Highlights in Kavarna
The combined area of the beaches in Kavarna Municipality is given as 74,000 square meters. This total refers to all the municipality’s beaches together, not to a single beach. At Bolata, a steep path leads north to the top of the cliff, from where there are views across the gorge. Bolata is the only sandy beach in the Kaliakra area. Kavarna therefore offers both a total area for the municipality’s beaches and a specific beach with a distinctive place in the coastal landscape.
The natural areas at Yaylata and Taukliman also offer different highlights. More than 178 bird species breed at Yaylata or pass through there on their way to spend the winter on the African coast; more than 270 animal species have also been recorded there. Taukliman is associated with the Via Pontica migratory route. Every spring, flocks of thousands of gulls, geese, waders, plovers and other birds stop there. The birdlife described here therefore differs both by area and by season.
History and Culture in Kavarna
The Kavarna Ethnographic Complex includes a house museum, a restored cobbler’s workshop, a lace-making workshop and a courtyard. It showcases cultural features of the Dobrudzhans, Gagauz and Kotlentsi. The city’s two churches add to this historical picture: St. George’s was built in 1836, and the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin in 1860.
Yaylata is home to a cave settlement with 101 dwellings that were inhabited as early as the 5th millennium BC. The area’s archaeological heritage also includes an early Byzantine fortress and five ancient necropolises. The cave museum at Cape Kaliakra displays archaeological finds from excavations in the reserve and a model of the ancient fortress. Guided tours or explanations by a guide are available during the active tourist season.
Events and Activities in Kavarna
At Kavarna’s traditional Mussel and Fish Festival, which was held for the 23rd time in August 2026, there were public cooking demonstrations and tastings of mussels, Black Sea fish and other seafood. Kavarna Rock Fest began in 2006; this date marks the festival’s historical beginning. Kamen Bryag has challenging, hard-to-access climbing routes used by sport climbers.
