Götzis offers something for travelers with a range of interests: natural attractions, hikes, historic buildings and culture. The following places provide specific inspiration, without implying any particular accommodation or amenities.

Landscapes, bodies of water and hiking destinations

Örflaschlucht Gorge is a natural attraction and excursion destination in Götzis. The Emmebach stream carved it into the rock; the gorge is also part of the Hohe Kugel-Hoher Freschen-Mellental nature reserve. Götzner Moos, also known as Orsanken Moos, covers 26.2 hectares between Hohe Kugel and Hoher Lug. These are two distinct landscapes: a gorge carved by a stream and a marshland area with an alternative name.

The two ponds at Gasserweiher also have a human-influenced history: they were created through clay extraction by the Gasser brickworks. Fishing is permitted at the northern pond if you purchase a fishing permit. Those considering Hohe Kugel as a hiking destination will find a 1,645-meter-high mountain above the Rhine Valley, regarded as one of the region’s most beautiful hiking destinations.

Routes and activities

The Arbogast Organic Farming Trail is about 1.9 kilometers long; a 2.9-kilometer option is also available for those seeking a longer walk. At nine stops, visitors learn about the many benefits of organic farming through playful activities. Much of the trail is accessible with a stroller. The two stated lengths give a clear idea of how far each route covers.

For via ferrata enthusiasts, the information on Via Örfla and Via Kapf differs considerably. Via Örfla is a gorge via ferrata that starts in the valley. Via Kapf is graded C/D; mountain experience and via ferrata equipment, a helmet and via ferrata gloves are required.

Please note the dated trail status for Kapfweg: on May 11, 2026, it was closed until further notice after rock movement caused by a rock slab destroyed the path. Check the current trail status before setting out.

Architectural history and culture

The Old Parish Church of St. Ulrich in Götzis dates back to around the year 1000. Neu-Montfort Castle was built by the Counts of Montfort at the beginning of the 14th century. The keep survives as a ruin, while the palace has completely disappeared. Jonas-Schlössle was built by the Jonas family around 1584 and is considered one of the finest examples of an aristocratic Renaissance country estate in Vorarlberg.

The Water House is intended as a place for reflection and appreciation of water, an essential element of life. The five-by-five-meter concrete building, with 820 precisely drilled openings and a pyramid tilted inward, encloses a rectangular pool and a drinking fountain. Its design and stated purpose offer a different way to experience Götzis’s buildings than the historic church and castle ruins.

Kulturbühne AMBACH is a venue for spoken theater and cabaret, and an established part of Vorarlberg’s theater and cabaret scene. It adds a distinct cultural focus to the historic attractions.

Getting around and seasonal offerings

Gasserweiher is about a five-minute walk from Götzis train station and is also accessible by bicycle or local bus. Landbus route 445 runs regularly between Götzis train station and St. Arbogast, then continues toward Feldkirch. Check the latest timetable for your journey.

In its seasonal announcement of May 4, 2026, the municipality listed two swimming pools, a diving tower, a spacious area for young children, a playground, table tennis tables and a beach volleyball court at the swimming pool in Riebe.
