Alberschwende
Accommodation in Alberschwende
Alberschwende offers several distinct points of reference when planning a stay: cross-country skiing with designated trail lengths and difficulty levels, hiking destinations at BrĂĽggelekopf and the Fallbach Waterfall, and cultural sites in the village. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first consider which activities or cultural themes you want to shape your stay. The offerings provide different ways to find your bearings: sometimes by trail length and rating, sometimes by access or a specific historical connection.
Hiking destinations and trails
BrĂĽggelekopf is a destination for mountain bikers. The Musikwanderweg, a hiking route with ten music-themed stops, also runs there. Its stops give the route a different focus from the mountain biking offering: they are designed around music. The Fallbach Waterfall can only be reached on foot as part of a hike and is located in a gorge between the hamlets of Fischbach-Urdrehen and Weitloch. There is also a barbecue area by the waterfall; its use may be subject to local conditions. By comparison, the route to Schwarzenberg and Andelsbuch starts in the village center and follows part of the Sagenweg. The directions therefore differ: access is the key consideration for the waterfall, while the route is defined by its starting point in the village center, its section of the Sagenweg, and its two destinations.
Cross-country skiing by length and difficulty
The intermediate cross-country ski trail at the Hinterfeld sports center is just under 6 km long. Alberschwende also has an easy 1.5 km cross-country skiing loop and an intermediate 2.5 km loop. The 1.5 km loop is the shortest and the only easy option among the three listed; the two longer trails are intermediate. This makes it possible to compare distance and designated difficulty side by side. The trails are groomed seasonally. Check the current trail-grooming status before your visit.
Cultural history and the village center
The exhibition displays at Coseum – Alberschwende Local History Museum reflect the rural domestic culture of the 18th and 19th centuries in the region. For travelers interested in rural domestic culture, this provides a clearly defined exhibition theme, connecting a particular way of life with a historical period and a regional context. The memorial to the euthanasia victims from Alberschwende offers a different focus. It was erected in 2009 in front of the main entrance to the parish church and differs thematically from the exhibition at Coseum. The village lime tree also stands in Alberschwende’s village square; its trunk circumference is more than eight meters. This specific measurement adds another distinct point of interest in the village to its cultural sites. The points of reference also differ in time: Coseum covers domestic culture of the 18th and 19th centuries; 2009 is the year the memorial to the victims was erected.
