Königswiesen lies in the Mühlviertler Alm at an elevation of 614 m. If you are looking for a hotel in Königswiesen, you can plan your trip around the specific local themes: views and landscape, the history of mills and transport, hiking or cycling. The destinations also differ in their visiting conditions: one place is accessible only on foot, one hiking route has a shorter option, and certain visits require advance registration or an appointment. This lets you plan your trip around the experiences that matter to you.

Landscape and views

The Harlingsedt summit cross stands at an altitude of 920 m and offers views from the Schneeberg to the Dachstein. The Harlingsedter summit cross on the Johannesweg is considered a natural granite viewing platform. The 84.0-kilometre Johannesweg circular hiking trail continues via the ascent to the summit cross and on to Königswiesen. Königswiesen itself lies at an elevation of 614 m; the summit cross is another specifically quantified elevation point. Klausteich, meanwhile, is a forest lake in the Stiftinger Forst and is accessible only on foot. The landscape options therefore include two contrasting destinations: a granite viewpoint and a forest lake that can be reached on foot.

Mill, timber transport and rock

The 80-year-old Reindlmühle mill stands along the Klammleiten adventure hiking trail; it was renovated in 1999, and its mill wheel turns as it did in times gone by. Part of the so-called Gfluder was rebuilt in 2002 to document the arduous historical transport of timber. The mill wheel and the Gfluder thus point to different themes: mill operations and timber transport. The Wackelstein adds geology to the options. This block of rock is characterized by an unusually small contact area and spheroidal weathering. The small contact area describes how it touches the ground; spheroidal weathering refers to a particular form of rock weathering. At the Wackelstein, you can therefore consider both the shape of the block and the geological term.

Hiking and cycling

The route information differs: the Johannesweg is an 84.0-kilometre circular hiking trail, while the Klammleiten adventure hiking trail can also be walked on a shorter route. You can therefore compare a circular trail with a specified distance with a trail that explicitly offers a shorter option. The pump track in Königswiesen was designed specifically for mountain bikers and BMX riders; there is also a children’s pump track for beginners and young riders. Hiking and pump-track riding therefore suit different travel interests.
