Cycling and golf
The Zillertal Cycle Path runs through Uderns between FĂĽgen and Kaltenbach. It is considered easy and family-friendly, with no significant climbs. Most of it is paved; only short sections are gravel. You can take these details into account separately when planning your ride: the route description outlines the terrain, while the surface describes the ground. If you would prefer to ride on asphalt for most of the way, plan for the short gravel sections.
The Zillertal-Uderns Golf Course in Uderns is a par-72 course with 18 holes. This means different leisure options sit alongside each other: a route that runs through Uderns between FĂĽgen and Kaltenbach, and an 18-hole golf course. This comparison categorizes the local options by type, without presenting cycling and golf as one combined activity.
Parish Church and Plunggen Chapel
The Roman Catholic parish church of Uderns stands on the edge of the village center in the municipality of Uderns, in the Schwaz district of Tyrol. The tower with its pointed spire and the two-bay chancel date back to the Gothic building of 1498. The four-bay Baroque nave was built between 1685 and 1688. The painted stucco work and frescoes inside are by Christoph Anton Mayr and date to 1771. The church was first mentioned in a document in 1334.
The terms “two-bay” and “four-bay” describe different parts of the church: the chancel and the nave. The dates also refer to different historical periods—from the first written mention and older structural elements to the Baroque nave and the interior decoration. This makes it possible to understand the parish church’s history through several points in time, rather than reducing it to a single construction year.
Plunggen Chapel is located at the edge of the forest on the path between Uderns and Ried. It was built in 1438 during a plague epidemic in the Zillertal and is dedicated to Saint Roch, who is regarded as the patron saint against the “Black Death.” Its location, construction date and dedication give the chapel a different historical focus from the individual building phases of the parish church. The image of Kümmernis from Plunggen Chapel now hangs beneath the choir gallery in the parish church of Uderns.
