Terfens is a destination for a range of interests: the municipality brings together an indoor exhibition and an upside-down house with a swimming lake, cycle path and opportunities for walks. When choosing where to go, it’s worth first considering whether you want to plan a visit to an exhibition, time by the water or outdoor activities. The attractions differ considerably, so you can structure your stay around your own plans. If you’re looking for a hotel in Terfens, the following features can help you decide what you might like to do.

Dinoland Tirol and Haus Steht Kopf

Dinoland Tirol is an indoor exhibition featuring more than 70 life-size dinosaur models. Many models are animated and produce realistic sounds; the number of models may change.

At Haus Steht Kopf, an entire detached house is furnished upside down. The living room, children’s rooms, kitchen and bathroom, as well as the garage with a car, are all upside down. All the furnishings are on the ceiling; you can view the car parked in the garage from below. Unlike Dinoland, the focus here is on a house furnished upside down rather than on dinosaur models.

Weißlahn swimming lake

Weißlahn swimming lake covers approximately 4.4 hectares and has two large sunbathing lawns. The Weißlahn leisure centre has had a wheelchair-accessible swimming jetty since 2007. Unlike the indoor attractions, Weißlahn focuses on the lake and sunbathing areas; the jetty is another specifically designated feature.

Cycling and hiking

The Inn Valley Cycle Path in Tyrol runs along the Inn through the municipality of Terfens. The route is easy, has no significant climbs and is also suitable for families. At the Inn Valley Cycle Path in Terfens, there is an ÖAMTC bicycle service station offering free self-service facilities. It has a hanging fixture, a pump and hand tools for minor bicycle repairs. The route and the station offer different points of reference: the cycle path describes the character of the route, while the station is equipped for minor bicycle repairs.

The Planet Trail is a 3-kilometre interactive discovery trail. The easy circular route on the Planet Trail takes about an hour, is suitable for strollers and leads from Christuskirche through the “Terfner Forchat.” Terfens also has eight local hiking routes in three difficulty levels: easy, moderate and difficult. This lets you compare the approximate duration and stroller suitability of the circular route with the difficulty levels of the local hiking network.

Church services and getting to Tirolland

Regular church services are held at St. Juliana Parish Church in the Dorf district, Christuskirche in the Vomperbach district and the Maria Larch pilgrimage chapel. If you’d like to plan your stay around a church service, check the specific date in advance.

Tirolland can be reached by train via Pill-Vomperbach station. If Tirolland is one of your destinations, you can plan to travel by train via this station.
