Forchach lies in the core zone of Tiroler Lech Nature Park. The suspension bridge, the river landscape and the trails through the wild river landscape offer specific points of interest when choosing a destination. Local cultural landmarks and the Hochstanzer Alpe add to this nature-focused theme.

Lech River Landscape and Nature Park

The Lech riverbed is particularly wide and impressive near Forchach. The Lechzopf formation winds through it and is visible from the surrounding peaks. This gives the nature theme a specific point of reference: alongside the wide river expanse, a named formation takes centre stage. Its visibility from the surrounding peaks adds a second perspective to the view of the riverbed. This gives you two distinct landscape features to consider when planning your trip: the breadth of the Lech near Forchach and the course of the Lechzopf through the riverbed.

Suspension Bridge and Visitor Facility

The Forchach suspension bridge is 138 metres long, wheelchair-accessible and suitable for pushchairs. It opened to pedestrians in August 2020. The visitor facility at the bridge includes play equipment and a public barbecue area. There is also information about the wild river habitat and LIFE Project 2, which was completed in 2022 and included river-restoration and species-protection measures. This puts the natural environment in focus alongside the structure itself. The bridge and visitor facility therefore provide a specific focal point for anyone choosing a destination based on both a striking structure and the habitat along the Lech.

Routes and Hikes

The “Forchach to the Suspension Bridge” route starts at the sports ground in Forchach and returns to the starting point. Returning to the start is a clear point of reference for this route. The “Forchach – Suspension Bridge to Stanzach” route follows a different course: it crosses the suspension bridge to Jagdhaus Feldele and continues through woodland. The route then crosses the Schwarzwasserbach Bridge into the Errach area. The two routes can be distinguished by their described courses: one starts and ends at the sports ground; the other follows the named intermediate points and woodland stretch to the Errach area. In addition, the wild river landscape near Forchach offers an easy hike in the nature park. It provides a separate point of interest alongside the specific routes and focuses on the landscape by the river.

Culture and Elevation

There are named points of interest beyond the river landscape and hiking trails, too. The Catholic Church of St Sebastian in Forchach, a branch and expositur church with a cemetery, is a protected monument. Travellers who include local architectural heritage in their decision can consider this protected church and cemetery site. The Hochstanzer Alpe lies at an elevation of 1,600 metres, adding a clearly stated elevation reference to the information about the area. Forchach thus offers a choice of different themes: the natural environment, trails, a protected historic site and an alpine pasture.
