For a stay in Asching, Aschinger Alm offers several specific highlights: a cheese dairy, hiking and cycling routes, and a toboggan run in winter. When planning, it is worth considering the different routes and their respective features. You can also plan your journey to the alpine pasture according to your mode of transport and directions.

Cheese and Aschinger Alm

The cheese dairy at Aschinger Alm uses milk from its alpine cows to make various cheeses, butter, curd cheese, yoghurt and other dairy products. For its alpine cheese, it uses hay milk from silage-free farming and traditional recipes; production follows time-honoured methods. This brings together a selection of dairy products and the distinctive production method used for the alpine cheese as two separate aspects. Food lovers may enjoy a visit to the cheese dairy on the 300 | Aschinger Alm Loop.

Hiking routes to the alpine pasture

The hike to Aschinger Alm starts at the “Asching” car park in Buchberg and follows a forest road to the Berggasthof Aschinger Alm. It is suitable for families and starts and ends at the “Asching Buchberg” car park. The loop and the route along the forest road make the tour easy to follow: the start and finish are at the car park, and the destination is the mountain inn.

The 300 | Aschinger Alm Loop follows a different route. It climbs through Oberbuchberg to the Alpengasthof Aschinger Alm and offers views of the Zahmer Kaiser, the Inn Valley and Lake Walchsee. The return route goes through a wooded area and along a gravel road to Asching and the hiking car park. The two hiking options therefore differ in their route, surface and the views mentioned.

Cycling around Asching

A short e-bike and mountain bike tour leads from Asching along a scenic alpine road to Aschinger Alm. Cyclists also have a specific point of reference on the Mozart Cycle Route: Stage 12–13 passes through Asching before reaching the main road to Durchholzen. These are two distinct reference points for planning your trip: the short tour to the alpine pasture and a stage that passes through Asching on the way to Durchholzen.

Tobogganing in winter

In winter, the forest road from the “Asching” car park to Aschinger Alm can also be used as a toboggan run. Whether it is open depends on snow and operating conditions. The car park for the toboggan run is the Wander- und Radweg-Aschingeralm car park in Asching. Free toboggan hire is available right at Aschinger Alm; check whether this seasonal service is available before your winter trip. For this winter option, both the starting point and the conditions for use are important planning details.

Getting there and finding your way

Aschinger Alm can be reached by car via Ebbs or by the Zahmer Kaiser chairlift in Durchholzen. As lift operations may vary by season, check the current operating hours in advance. The route to Aschinger Alm is signposted from Ebbs Church. To find your way, you can choose between the stated modes of transport and also follow the signposted route from the church.
