Mountain biking to Frauenalpe

The Kaindorf–Frauenalpe mountain bike route starts on the Murradweg R2 near Kaindorf and heads south towards Frauenalpe. After about 900 metres, the paved section ends at “Schaffer in Greith”; a forest road begins there. The distance given therefore describes the paved section up to this transition, not the entire route. The named point and change in surface can help you get your bearings on this first section. Check the route conditions and signage before setting off.

From Murauer Hütte, the route continues along a forest track to the summit of Frauenalpe. There are two alternative routes back to Murau from Murauer Hütte: the Bernhard Fest Trail or Frauenalpenstraße. Both lead to the same stated destination, but their names indicate that one is a trail and the other a road. Check their seasonal availability before planning your return journey.

Other trails through Kaindorf

The Leonhardsweg descends from Frauenalpe via Kaindorf and then follows the Murradweg to Stadl an der Mur. The Kirchsteigweg circular hiking trail also passes through the Kaindorf district. For the route from Frauenalpe via Kaindorf to Stadl an der Mur, take the Leonhardsweg; the Kirchsteigweg is a circular hiking trail through the Kaindorf district.

Kaindorf Bridge: length and access

The Kaindorf Bridge is 35 metres long and freely accessible at any time of day through December 2026. Access during this period is not limited to specific hours. If your trip takes place after December 2026, check access arrangements again.

Petting zoo and guided ski tours

The alpakahaus.at petting zoo is located in Woody Park and on the alpakahaus.at ranch in Kaindorf-Süd. If the operator has changed, check the address before your visit. Admission to the alpakahaus.at petting zoo is free. You can therefore include it in your Kaindorf-Süd stay plans as an attraction with no admission cost when budgeting for your trip.
