Gröbming: Hiking, Culture and Kurpark
Accommodation in Gröbming
The Stoderzinken offers seasonal mountain activities, while the Kurpark, museum and cinema add to the picture of Gröbming. When choosing your destination, you can first consider whether you are mainly interested in hiking and winter sports, trails, culture or other leisure activities.
Mountain Activities and Trails
The Stoderzinken is an impressive 2,048-metre-high mountain near Gröbming. In summer, you can explore the mountain and its natural surroundings on numerous hiking trails and via ferratas. In winter, it is a destination for winter sports enthusiasts, offering options for ski tourers and snowshoers. The difference is clear when choosing when to visit: in summer, the focus is on hiking trails and via ferratas; in winter, on ski tours and snowshoe tours.
Another option for planning your visit is the 6.4-kilometre-long FX-Mayr Trail. It runs from the Kurpark in Gröbming via Oberwinkl and Weyern to the Kneipp facility in Lend, and is dedicated to the physician FX Mayr. Its stated length provides a concrete basis for comparison, and the route and its stops are also specified. This makes it possible to distinguish the trail from the seasonally described mountain activities without treating them as the same kind of excursion.
Museum and Cinema Tradition
The permanent exhibition at the Gröbming Museum covers traces of settlement from the Bronze Age, a Roman gravestone and the Notgasse. These topics offer different historical perspectives and provide a clear thematic focus for your museum visit.
Kino Gröbming has a cinema tradition spanning more than 80 years. Since 2020, the summer cinema has been a permanent part of Kino Gröbming; the drive-in cinema that began during the COVID-19 pandemic has since developed into an annual open-air cinema in the Gröbming Kurpark. The museum and cinema therefore represent different cultural highlights: a permanent exhibition on historical topics and a longstanding summer cinema tradition.
Kurpark, Panoramabad and Regional Products
The well-maintained Kurpark, lush with greenery, is the heart of Gröbming. From spring to autumn, the Kurpark offers a varied display of flowers; it also has a brine graduation tower and an elegant fountain. Panoramabad Gröbming has a 25-metre sports pool, a children’s pool and an adventure playground.
The Gröbming farm shop offers a wide range of locally produced foods and other delicacies. If you are interested in regional produce as well as activities and cultural offerings, the shop adds a specific food-related dimension to these topics.
Getting There
Gröbming railway station is about ten minutes from the town centre and can be reached directly by bus route 947. To get to the Gröbming Museum, take RegioBus route 901 to the Gröbming Busbahnhof stop; from there, it is about a 150-metre walk. The connections serve different destinations: route 947 goes to the railway station, while route 901 and the walk that follows serve the museum.
