Eurobin: Rail Trail, art and regional farms
Accommodation in Eurobin
Eurobin offers several specific points of interest to consider when planning your trip. Local attractions provide a framework as you consider whether a stay focused on the trail, art and history, or agricultural produce is right for your trip.
Eurobin on the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail
The Murray to Mountains Rail Trail connects Eurobin with Bright, Porepunkah, Ovens, Myrtleford and Gapsted. It can be reached by bicycle from Myrtleford, Bright or Porepunkah. These three towns are also among the places named as connections along the trail, so cycling access and the regional route can be considered together.
In Eurobin, an existing building with visitor facilities is located at the trail rest stop by the old railway station. The rest stop is a local point of reference along the trail, while the connection with the five other towns describes its regional context. If you include Eurobin in your trip planning in connection with the trail, you can take into account both a specific stop locally and a route connecting several towns.
True Horizons: art and audio tour
True Horizons at Eurobin Station is a First Peoples artwork by Kent Morris. It invites visitors to reflect on the landscape and the region’s history. As a First Nations-led experience, True Horizons is also a place for truth-telling and reflection. Its cultural focus connects a specific artwork with themes relating to both the landscape and regional history.
An audio tour in five chapters is available at the site. Alongside the artwork, the offering also includes a multi-part audio format. The five chapters give the tour a clear structure and a distinct place in your trip planning.
Agricultural offerings and regional produce
The 375-acre farm at Red Stag Deer & Emu Farm & Restaurant produces its own venison from fallow deer. It is high on a hillside overlooking the Ovens Valley. Here, a specific product and the scenic location are two distinct aspects. This offers a different focus from the trail or True Horizons: the emphasis is on agricultural production and the view across the valley.
Buffalo Berry Farm offers blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and boysenberries; visitors can pick their own berries. The offerings also include homemade ice cream, berry pies, pancakes, milkshakes and coffee. The focus thus includes both berries and pick-your-own experiences, as well as prepared food and drinks. Compared with the farm’s own fallow deer venison at Red Stag, the emphasis here is on the different berries and the accompanying food and drink offerings.
You can choose between different focuses when planning your trip: the trail connects several towns and has a named rest stop in Eurobin; True Horizons brings together art and regional history; and the farms put agricultural produce at the centre. Consider whether you would rather plan your trip around a trail, a cultural theme or what the local businesses have to offer.
