There are three distinct ways to shape a stay in Wahgunyah: wineries and tastings, the heritage of All Saints Estate, and outdoor recreation. The offerings and trails differ in form: the wineries focus on both founding history and a named tasting format. Outdoors, a designated walking circuit and a longer trail network offer different points of reference.

Wineries and heritage

All Saints Estate is a family-owned winery in Wahgunyah on the banks of the Murray River, founded in 1864. The castle at All Saints Estate is classified on the Victorian Heritage Register and by the National Trust. The year refers to the winery’s founding; the classification applies to the castle. This makes it possible to consider the business’s history and the building’s heritage status as two distinct aspects.

At Pfeiffer Wines, the “Seated Tasting Experience” offers the opportunity to sample a wide selection of premium wines. For a themed choice, different elements take centre stage: the winery’s history and the castle’s heritage status at All Saints Estate, and the seated tasting at Pfeiffer Wines. Tasting arrangements may change; check the current arrangements before your trip.

Dining on site

Quartz Cuisine is a restaurant on site offering coffee, sweet treats and lunch. Check the current details of its offerings before your trip. This lets you include this culinary stop in your plans while keeping the different wine and heritage themes in view.

Trails and active recreation

Wahgunyah Railway Reserve offers a fun and inclusive space for active recreation and connects the community to the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail between Rutherglen and Wahgunyah. The Wahgunyah Pump Track is a new asphalt pump track on Wahgunyah Railway Land.

For a nature walk, consider the St Leonards / Granthams Walk: it is a 4 km Grade 1 circuit, listed as taking one hour. The route passes an area with a natural lagoon and native flora and fauna. Local trail conditions may change; check them before setting out.

Rutherglen Loops covers a different scale: the 48 km trail network connects Rutherglen with Wahgunyah, Lake Moodemere, and the region’s renowned wineries and cellar doors. The difference matters when planning your time: the four kilometres and one hour refer to the circuit, while the 48 kilometres refer to the entire trail network. This offers two options for different planning needs: a loop with a specific duration and a regional trail network with named connections.
