Nature and Outdoor Activities

Khao Yai National Park is part of Prachin Buri Province, and the Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex is home to more than 800 animal species. The province offers a range of outdoor activities at waterfalls and rapids. Depending on the season and your personal preferences, these experiences can be peaceful or exciting. The season and level of activity you want are therefore useful considerations when planning your time in nature.

Than Rattana Waterfall is in Noen Hom Subdistrict; its entrance is on the Khao Yai–Prachin Buri route. Check current route conditions before planning your visit.

Museum and Regional History

Prachinburi National Museum is in Na Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Prachin Buri District. Its subject matter ranges from history and archaeology to art history and antiquities from eastern Thailand. The permanent exhibition is divided into five sections, including one on ancient Si Mahosot. You can explore a variety of topics at the museum as well as this specific archaeological connection. The museum officially opened on April 22, 1985. Among the objects on display is a 1.70-meter-tall stone statue of Ganesha from Si Mahosot.

Archaeological and Religious Sites

The Sra Morakot archaeological site in Khok Thai, Si Mahosot, brings together several historical points of interest. The sacred well is located in archaeological group No. 1. The site also features twin Buddha footprints, considered the oldest in Thailand. In addition, the area of the Ganesha Shrine in Si Mahosot served as a religious site for at least 800 years. Together, these places offer insights into different aspects of Prachinburi’s archaeological and religious history.

Khao Ito Buddhist Park features a Buddha image in the Dvaravati style protected by a Naga, considered the largest of its kind in Thailand. Wat Kaeo Phichit is on the right bank of the Bang Pakong River in Mueang Prachin Buri Municipality. These sites offer different perspectives: the Buddha image draws attention to its style and religious iconography, while the riverside setting defines the location of Wat Kaeo Phichit.
