Tamchy on Issyk-Kul: Beach and Nature
Accommodation in Tamchy
Tamchy is located on the northern shore of Issyk-Kul. Along the lakeshore, relaxation and swimming are the focus; a mountain stream, greenery, and orchards provide a different setting for leisurely walks. At Tamchy Beach, opportunities for water sports are also available, depending on the wind and season. When choosing your destination, you can consider whether you would prefer to focus on swimming, activities on the water, or walks amid greenery.
At the beach: relaxation and water sports
Tamchy offers beach relaxation and swimming on Issyk-Kul. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are available at Tamchy Beach when the wind picks up in the afternoon. The availability of these activities and local equipment may vary by season. Stand-up paddleboarding and exploring in small boats add to the water sports options at the beach; these may also be offered seasonally. When planning, it is worth distinguishing between wind-dependent activities and seasonal paddleboarding and boating. Check what is available during your intended travel dates before your trip.
Mountain stream and orchards
The mountain stream provides a peaceful setting for walks amid greenery and orchards. You can walk through the gardens and, seasonally, buy fresh fruit there from local residents. Fruit availability and visitor access may vary by season. If you would like to explore a greener setting in addition to the lake, you can make the mountain stream and orchards a separate focus of your trip planning.

The Tamchy Horse Games Festival features Er oodarysh, a contest between two riders, and kok-boru, a game played on horseback. The program also includes boorsok and beshbarmak, as well as Kara-Jorgo, the Kyrgyz national dance. If you would like to plan your trip around the festival, check the event dates; you should also confirm the menu for your chosen date.
