Mogallu is associated with Alluri Sitarama Raju’s childhood. The Alluri Dhyana Mandir, three temples described in historical accounts, and the Gostani River give the place biographical, religious, and geographical dimensions. For planning your trip, you can consider these points separately: the freedom fighter’s life story, the different descriptions of the temples, and the course of the river near Mogallu. This gives you a clear idea of what interests you about Mogallu as you begin looking for a hotel.

Alluri Sitarama Raju and the Dhyana Mandir

Alluri Sitarama Raju spent his childhood in Mogallu, where the Alluri Dhyana Mandir is also located. The design for the Mandir, approved in 2022, called for murals and an AI-powered interactive system depicting the freedom fighter’s life. A statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Dhyana Mudra was also approved for the Mandir. The planned elements had different purposes: the murals and interactive presentation were intended to convey his life, while the statue was to show him in a particular pose. A report from July 2025 described the Mandir as completed. The same report announced its opening for the following day. If you are planning a visit, check current visitor arrangements in advance.

Historical descriptions of the temples

A historical account from 1961 lists the Kanaka Durga Temple and the Chandrasekhara Temple as places of worship in Mogallu. At the Kanaka Durga Temple, the deity’s image was described as being in human form; the account refers to a stone lingam at the Chandrasekhara Temple. The Venugopalaswamy Temple is also mentioned as a place of worship in the same historical account. Thus, the description names three temples alongside two differently characterized images: a human figure and a stone lingam.

The Gostani River and the history of the area

Near Mogallu, the Gostani River flows from south to north. This directional detail adds a geographical perspective to the cultural and biographical associations: while Alluri’s childhood and the temples connect the place with people and religious imagery, the river’s course provides a sense of its spatial orientation.

A report from 2025 described Kshatriya youth groups in Mogallu as repeatedly holding gatherings on the birthdays and death anniversaries of Alluri Sitarama Raju. This adds a communal form of remembrance to the biographical connection. The gatherings have a different temporal reference from the completion of the Mandir reported that same year and its opening announced for the following day: the former are recurring events, while the latter was a single announced date. If you would like to plan your trip around one of these gatherings, check for a current date in advance.
