Discover Liuzhou: Industrial History, Karst and the Liujiang River
Accommodation in Liuzhou
The destinations featured here bring together several distinct themes in Liuzhou: industrial history, karst landscapes, Luosifen culture, and the relationship between the river and the city. If you are looking for a hotel in Liuzhou, this variety can help you plan your trip around the sights that interest you most. The selection ranges from a museum housed in former factory buildings to a large scenic park and a cultural corridor along the river.
Industrial History at the Liuzhou Industrial Museum
The Liuzhou Industrial Museum was created by converting the old factory buildings of the former Liuzhou No. 3 Cotton Mill. The industrial past is therefore not only a subject of the museum but also part of the buildings’ original purpose. Indoor areas include the “Liuzhou Industrial History Hall,” the “Liuzhou Enterprise Showcase Hall,” the “Liuzhou Ecological Livability Hall,” and a cultural and leisure service area. The names set out distinct themes: alongside industrial history and enterprise showcases, ecological livability has its own exhibition focus. The cultural and leisure service area complements these halls.
Karst Landscapes at Longtan Park
Longtan Park, also known as Dalongtan Scenic Area, is in the southern part of Liuzhou’s urban area, near the city center. As a large scenic park, it combines karst landscapes, the cultures of ethnic groups in southern China, and subtropical karst vegetation. This combination makes it different in focus from the museum’s themed indoor spaces: here, landscape and cultural heritage take center stage together. When planning your visit, you can therefore consider whether you would rather focus on museum galleries or the park’s scenery.
Luosifen Culture and Industrial Production
Another focus is Luosifen Town in Liuzhou’s Liunan District. The scenic area was rated a national 4A tourist attraction in November 2019; check its current status before planning your visit. The industrial tourism program described in December 2019 included an exhibition hall about Luosifen culture, tours of production lines, and interactive Luosifen-making activities. Unlike the museum, which is based in a former cotton mill, this attraction focuses on the culture of a specific noodle dish and how it is made. Liuzhou’s industrial history therefore offers more than one perspective: you can focus on the former textile industry or on Luosifen and its production.
The Liujiang as a River-and-City Landscape
Liuzhou Confucian Temple is a key project within the Baili Liujiang cultural corridor. Nighttime opening was introduced in August 2014; check the current schedule before visiting in the evening. The “Baili Liujiang – Baili Gallery” corridor is being developed as a river-and-city landscape for Liuzhou. Sights along the banks of the Liujiang include the Confucian Temple, the twin towers on Panlong Mountain, and Yaobu Ancient Town. These named riverside destinations are part of a shared river-and-city concept. The corridor offers a different way to explore the area than visiting a single attraction: it connects the idea of river and city with specific cultural sights along the Liujiang. When choosing what to explore, it makes a difference whether you focus on the temple or take in the wider river-and-city landscape.
