Point Venture on Lake Travis
Accommodation in Point Venture
Point Venture is on the north shore of Lake Travis in western Travis County, Texas. To help make your decision, you can consider whether you are most interested in golf, recreational activities around the lake or the town’s development.
Golf between history and lake views
The Point Venture Golf Club was designed in 1972 by Jimmy Demaret, a three-time Masters champion. The course has nine holes; four of them offer views of Lake Travis. Four out of nine holes is fewer than half the course, so the lake views are one specific aspect, not a feature of every hole. The club includes The Garage, a building offering comprehensive golf instruction and club fitting. The club’s design history is thus complemented by views of the lake from certain holes, as well as instruction and club fitting as further golf-related features.
Park amenities and sports courts
Lakeside Park has a disc golf course and a boat ramp. The two facilities offer different experiences: disc golf is a sports activity in the park, while the boat ramp provides a direct link to activities on the water. Tennis and pickleball courts are located at 291 Venture Blvd S. This gives the courts a specific street address, while the disc golf course and boat ramp are associated with Lakeside Park. If you are planning particular activities, you can refer to the location details given for each one.
Restaurant, bar and games
Captain Pete’s Boathouse is a floating restaurant and bar near Point Venture on Lake Travis. Its floating format gives the establishment a special connection to the lake. Restaurant operations and opening hours may change, so it is advisable to check current hours before visiting. The Caddie Shack offers a different experience: a self-service bar at the counter, with no table service. You can play billiards, shuffleboard and darts there. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult while playing these games. The Boathouse focuses on its restaurant and bar, while the Caddie Shack features a self-service bar and games.
A history of development on the lake
Point Venture’s development on the lake began in early 1969 on a peninsula on Lake Travis known as “the Point.” During the early development phase, it had the only ferry service on a lake in Texas. This also provides historical context for its location on the water: the start of development is part of the peninsula’s history, while the ferry service was part of its early connection to the lake.
Access and planning
Point Venture’s facilities are available for use and visits by Point Venture owners and residents, as well as their invited guests. The access policy may change, so check the rules currently in effect for each amenity before visiting. The marina is reserved for owners who rent slips from the Property Owners Association.
