Discover Henryetta
Accommodation in Henryetta
Henryetta offers several themes to consider when planning a trip: historic storefronts and the Territorial Museum, Labor Day events, and recreational activities at Nichols Park and the golf course. If you’re looking for a hotel in Henryetta, it can help to first consider which of these is most important for your visit.
Main Street and Railroad Heritage
Henryetta’s Main Street comprises nine blocks of original storefronts dating from 1904. They are still in use, although individual businesses or occupants may change. The facades give the street a historic character that stretches across several blocks. Another stop for local history is the “Spirit of the American Doughboy” statue: it was dedicated in 1925 as a memorial to local soldiers who lost their lives in World War I.
Railroad history is also part of the cityscape. A restored caboose is on display near the former KATY depot site downtown. Since displays can be moved, it’s a good idea to check the location if you specifically want to visit the caboose.
The Henryetta Territorial Museum
The Henryetta Territorial Museum is housed in a one-room schoolhouse built in 1905. The building also served as a public library, First Presbyterian Church, scout house, and courtroom. During World War I, it housed a Red Cross headquarters. The building’s changing uses are themselves an important part of a visit to the museum.
The museum houses Joseph W. Hardin’s photo collection and exhibits about Troy Aikman and Jim Shoulders. Since individual displays may change, check in advance whether a particular exhibit is on view. Listed opening hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; check the hours again before your trip.
Nichols Park and Events
Nichols Park was developed between 1938 and 1941 by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the National Park Service. Historic Nichols Park has a 54-hole disc golf course that regularly hosts tournaments. Alongside the park’s history, there are sporting activities to enjoy; the course is also a reason to check tournament dates.
Jim Hall Lake, south of Henryetta and within Nichols Park, offers opportunities for fishing and using human-powered watercraft. Check the local rules in effect before using them. This lets you include park and lake activities in your plans without conflating them with events in the city.
The Jim Shoulders Living Legends Rodeo takes place at Nichols Park over Labor Day weekend. The Henryetta Labor Day Celebration also includes a parade on Main Street. Since event programs may change, check the specific dates if your visit depends on one of these events.
Seasonal Offerings and Golf
The Henryetta Farmers Market offers fresh produce during the warmer months. Seasonal offerings may vary, so for trip planning, the key detail is that it operates in the warmer months—not a specific market day.
The Henryetta Golf & Country Club has a nine-hole, par-36 course measuring 3,018 yards.
