Northwood offers a range of recreational activities to consider when planning your trip: the Northwood Community Center combines indoor sports with a running track; parks offer everything from hiking trails to sports fields, and Stoner Pond is located in Ranger Park. When choosing a hotel in Northwood, these differences can help you decide what to focus on during your stay. The following places provide an overview of indoor sports, park activities, and a body of water with an annual event.

Sports and a Running Track at the Northwood Community Center

The Northwood Community Center has a full-size gymnasium marked for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. It also has a covered indoor running track with three marked lanes. For planning your run, there is a specific conversion: 16 laps equal one mile; eight laps work out to half a mile. Various sports equipment is available for use in the gymnasium upon request.

Participants under 17 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. With such a signature, 13- to 17-year-olds may use the facilities without a parent or guardian accompanying them. For 8- to 12-year-olds, the following also applies: they may use the gymnasium or track without direct supervision, provided an adult is in the building. As participation requirements may change, check them before your visit.

Activities at Brentwood Park

Brentwood Park is in western Northwood. Its amenities include a hiking trail and a disc golf course, as well as pickleball courts, a basketball court, and soccer fields. There is also an outdoor shelter. The park therefore brings together several options that are clearly distinct from the running track and marked gymnasium at the Community Center.

Pickleball is available in both settings, but in different forms: the Community Center gymnasium has pickleball markings, while Brentwood Park has pickleball courts. The park is also home to the baseball field managed by The Miracle League of Northwest Ohio. It enables children of all abilities to play baseball in an accessible and inclusive environment.

Stoner Pond and Municipal Sports Programs

Stoner Pond, a five-acre body of water, is located in Ranger Park. The pond hosts the annual Kids' Fishing Derby. If this event is important to your travel plans, check the date for the relevant year. This way, the annual event is kept distinct from a specific date for your visit.

Beyond individual park locations, Northwood's Parks and Recreation Department oversees municipal baseball, softball, and soccer programs. If you are more interested in a municipal sports program than in a particular park, these three sports provide a clear guide. Check the latest registration details in advance. When choosing where to stay, you can distinguish between activities at the Community Center, recreational activities at Brentwood Park, and the annual event at Stoner Pond.
