Powell: Parks, Nature and Events
Accommodation in Powell
You can explore Powell during your stay through its specific places and recurring events. Village Green Park is in the heart of downtown; other parks offer their own highlights, including sports facilities, open green spaces, play areas or walking trails. There are also summer concerts, the annual Powell Festival and offerings related to history, cooking and indoor golf. Which highlights are right for you depends on whether you want to include a downtown park, a sports facility, nature or a particular type of event in your stay.
Parks and their different highlights
Village Green Park is in the heart of downtown Powell. During the summer months, the Lolli-Pops! Children’s Concert Series offers free, interactive concerts there. The park also has a splash pad, a water play area that is currently temporarily closed for maintenance. For planning purposes, the seasonal concert series and the current maintenance closure are two separate considerations.
Adventure Park has a 17,000-square-foot skatepark. Library Park offers expansive sports fields and open green spaces surrounded by established native Ohio trees. It also has a playground designed for children of all ages; the Delaware County District Library is also located in the park. The distinction, then, is between a skatepark with a specific stated size and a park whose listed features bring together sports, play, green space and a library.
Nature and walking trails
Beechwood Park is a densely wooded nature preserve with walking trails and educational areas. Check current conditions before visiting. O’Shaughnessy Nature Preserve is also a nature preserve in Powell and covers 80.344 acres. Beechwood Park is characterized by its wooded setting, trails and educational areas; the stated acreage provides a specific point of comparison for O’Shaughnessy Nature Preserve. Their described highlights therefore differ: one focuses on landscape and trails, while the other has a stated size.
Events throughout the year
The Powell Festival is the City of Powell’s annual signature event. The format described for 2027 includes two days of free, family-friendly entertainment featuring live music, children’s activities, shopping with local vendors, food trucks and fireworks. It also includes a DORA, or Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area. The Memorial Day Parade is a long-standing City of Powell event held every Memorial Day. For scheduling, a two-day festival program and a parade held on the annually recurring Memorial Day are two different formats.
History, cooking and indoor golf
The Liberty Powell Historical Society offers insight into the history of Powell and Liberty Township. In downtown Powell, The Recipe Cooking & Co. offers hands-on cooking classes led by professional chefs. X-Golf is Powell’s indoor golf experience. These offerings have different focuses: the historical society is devoted to local history, while cooking classes and indoor golf are specific leisure activities. During your stay, you can weigh up a history-focused outing, guided cooking and indoor golf.
