When planning a trip to Morrisville, you can weigh several interests against one another: greenways, parks, sports, history, and events offer specific focal points. The activities vary in type: trails, parks for informal recreation, sports facilities, and historical exhibits provide different options for planning your day.

Trails and Nature in Morrisville

The Indian Creek Greenway includes a 1.8-mile trail through the natural surroundings of Indian Creek; the Indian Creek Trailhead provides direct access to the greenway. The Hatcher Creek Greenway is about 1.4 miles long and therefore shorter. At the Shiloh Greenway, interpretive signs cover the history of the Shiloh Community. The trails can therefore be distinguished by length and theme: Indian Creek is described in terms of its natural surroundings and trailhead, while the signs at Shiloh focus on history. The Western Wake Farmers Market is also held weekly at Indian Creek.

Parks and Sports Facilities

Cedar Fork District Park offers opportunities for recreation, special events, and sports activities. Its eight multipurpose fields are suitable for soccer, football, lacrosse, and other field sports. The park is open daily for informal recreation; organized or structured use of the fields requires a rental through the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department.

Crabtree Creek Nature Park covers 37 acres, is wooded, and features wetlands. It currently has one large multipurpose field and a parking lot for informal recreation. The difference is clear when comparing sports use: Cedar Fork has eight fields for several field sports and requires a rental for organized use; Crabtree Creek currently has one large multipurpose field associated with informal recreation. The Dragonfly is a nine-hole disc golf course at 240 Town Hall Drive.

The Morrisville Aquatics & Fitness Center has three swimming areas, a spacious group fitness area, a weight room, and cardio equipment. There are also two lighted outdoor tennis courts and two indoor racquetball courts. The facilities therefore include swimming areas, fitness spaces, and courts for tennis and racquetball, with different indoor and outdoor facilities.

History, Classes, and Cricket

Morrisville Town Hall has interpretive Civil War Trail signs. The Battle of Morrisville is presented through artifacts at the Morrisville History Center in Town Hall. These provide two historical points of interest: the Civil War Trail signs and the artifact display about the battle. Orchid Trail Greenhouses also offers classes.

Professional cricket matches that attract national attention are held at Church Street Park. If cricket is a deciding factor in your stay, check the match schedule before you travel.

Public Transit for Trip Planning

The Morrisville Smart Shuttle provides free, on-demand public transit to residents, commuters, and visitors throughout town. This service may be relevant when choosing where to stay if you are considering public transportation. As an on-demand service, the shuttle is a distinct factor in planning your visit.
