Granville County Between Lakes, Forest Trails and History
Accommodation in Granville County

Parks, Trails and Landscapes
The Granville Athletic Park offers paved walking trails, an 18-hole disc golf course and an outdoor amphitheater for special performances. The park provides opportunities for outdoor exercise as well as a venue for special events.
The Ledge Creek Forest Conservation Area offers a different landscape. The area has a five-mile trail network, with trails rated easy to moderate. They pass fields designated for reforestation, as well as wildflower meadows and managed forests. Hardwood forests can also be found on the slopes above Ledge Creek. Picnic tables are available to visitors at both trailheads.
The park and conservation area offer different ways to enjoy the outdoors: the Granville Athletic Park features paved trails and disc golf, among other things, while the Ledge Creek Forest Conservation Area offers five miles of trails through meadows and forest. This comparison can help you choose an activity that suits your trip plans.
Lakes and Water Activities
Five lakes lie within or along the borders of Granville County. Together, they offer opportunities for boating, fishing and picnicking; other recreational amenities include trails, playgrounds and food options. At Lake Rogers Park in Creedmoor, you can fish, paddle and picnic.
Lake Rogers has a refurbished fishing pier and four fishing platforms. Check the current condition of the facilities before your visit. During business hours, you can borrow a fishing rod free of charge at Lake Rogers and the Creedmoor Community Center; confirm the program’s availability before your trip.
Aquacycles, Jon boats and NuCanoes are available to rent by the hour at Lake Rogers Park during operating hours. Check availability before you arrive. This lets you plan around what’s actually offered without assuming a particular rental option will be available on your travel day.

Oxford’s two historic districts showcase an architectural mix of Greek Revival, Italianate, Victorian and Queen Anne styles. The buildings were constructed mainly in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Together, the different styles and periods shape the districts’ historic character.
The Granville County Historical Society Museum is housed in the old county jail and consists of two buildings. The permanent Curt Tillotson Train Exhibit is located in Harris Exhibit Hall. Exhibit details may change, so check what’s currently on display before your visit. The Oliver-Morton Farm is also historically significant: it is considered representative of life in rural Granville County before the Civil War and during the postwar Bright Leaf tobacco era.
In Oxford, The Hub on Main offers another glimpse into local cultural and business life: the market and small business incubator feature local art, crafts, beer, wine and creative studios. Offerings may change.
